Description
Origins of an Ancient Spirit Wolf
It is said that these wolves are escapees from the Fey Wilds who now roam the material plain aimlessly. Those who have researched the Spirit Wolves believe that the Ancient Spirit Wolf is the older forms of the wolves that survive long enough on the material plane to grow old, thus they named these massive spirit wolves, Ancient. Being mostly indifferent about the existence of beings around them, they have rarely been known to attack travelers for no reason but generally will attack in self defense.
Appearance of the Ancient Spirit
An enormous, spectral wolf. This wolf's size changes depending on it's anger. The smallest are slightly bigger than a small house, the largest seen have been almost as large as a castle! It's fur glistens with spiritual light and flows slowly like a breeze is constantly moving through it's fur. As it angers, it's blueish glow changes to a dark red. It's steps release sprinkles of light that have been described like the light of fireflies. The footprints left behind by it's paws glow faintly in a dark blue light for 30 minutes before disappearing with hardly a trace of the wolfs presence having even been there.
Accidental Destruction
The Spirit Wolves are known to destroy buildings, bridges and other man made structures, however it is believed that this destruction is not malicious whatsoever, but rather comes from their indifference of anything around them. This behavior, although not intentional by the wolf, has led many angry landowners to put bounties on the wolves. The wolf has been known to speak to elves and attempt communication with other creatures. This interaction often comes as an assault of telepathic speech to unsuspecting creatures, or creatures who do not understand elvish.
Magical Caretakers
The Spirit Wolves use their magic to restore creatures to life that had recently passed and to heal the land they walk on. It cares for creatures in peril and has been known to step in between a group of hunters and their prey. This interaction usually upsets the humanoid creatures that miss their prey because of the Spirit Wolf's interference. It is unknown why they stray from their typical aloof behavior to care for the lives of sick, dying or dead creatures around them.
