Traits

Aura of Starvation. A creature that starts its turn within 10 feet of the wendigo must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed by gnawing cold and crippling hunger for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the wendigo’s Aura of Starvation for the next 24 hours.

Hunter. The wendigo has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth), Wisdom (Survival) and Wisdom (Perception) checks.

Mimicry. The wendigo can mimic any sounds it has heard, including voices. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful DC 16 Wisdom (Insight) check.

Regeneration. The Wendigo regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn. If the Wendigo takes  fire damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of the Wendigo s next turn. The Wendigo dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn't regenerate.

Ambusher. The wendigo has advantage on attack rolls against any creature it has surprised.

Masks of the Wild. The wendigo can attempt to hide even when it is only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, or other natural phenomena.

Legendary Resistance (1/Day): If the Elder Wendigo fails a save, it can choose to succeed instead.

Actions

Pounce. If the wendigo moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the wendigo can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

Multiattack. The wendigo makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 12 (2d10 + 5) piercing damage. The Wendigo regains HP equal to half the damage dealt.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d8 + 5) slashing damage. If the target is a creature other than an undead, it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Bonus Actions

Shape Change. This creature maintains the form of an unassuming humanoid and can transform as bonus action

Reactions

Instinctive Response. The wendigo can make one claw attack against a creature that hits it. This attack is made with advantage.

Legendary Actions

The Wendigo can take 1 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The Wendigo  regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Lunge (Costs 1 Action): The Wendigo leap half its movement speed towards a target and make a bite attack.

Consume Corpse (Costs 1 Action): The Wendigo can move up to half its speed to the nearest creature either unconscious and prone or dead and tears into it with teeth and claws. The Wendigo gains temporary 20 hit points, grows one size larger, and gains an additional damage die for all attacks.

Description

It is said in the legends of the far north, far beyond the last town or the last civilized village, far beyond the last borders of the last kingdom, that when the snow fall for months and life begin to slowly fade, when food stocks starts to dwindle and diseases starts to spread, something come with it.

Deep in the woods it lurk. An embodiment of everything we fear about winter. Cold, decay, famine... and madness. A tall creature, half man and half beast, a bare human skull with dagger like fangs as a head with a pair of large antlers on top of it, a starving body with nothing more than flesh and bones, claw as long as swords and deer-like powerful legs.

The mere presence of this creature make the wind stronger, the temperature drop and wildlife flee, for every living being knows that when his gaze is upon you, nothing more than death and madness awaits you.

Born of Greed and Starvation. The wendigo’s origins are mysterious. Some claim they are beings summoned forth from the corpses of humans who have died of starvation. Others say they come from those who have died because of cannibalism or their own greed.

An Insatiable Appetite. Wendigos are found in harsh climates, preying on the weak and hungry. Legends speak of entire settlements devoured by a single wendigo. All that remains of these settlements are eerily silent buildings and a few scattered bones, all material wealth untouched.

An Emaciated Horror. Wendigos have an emaciated humanoid shape with some disturbing lupine features, described by one scholar as a “hairless zombie werewolf.”

Punisher of Vices. Wendigos also have a special role in the punishment for cannibalism and greed. Greedy or cannibalistic individuals whose vices have caused the deaths of others, directly or indirectly, might be cursed by those victims as the victims die. This curse manifests as a wendigo being unleashed into the world.
