Traits

Keen Hearing and Smell. The auto-dog has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Using an action the auto-dog can change its body shape and size from the following pre-set designs. Mastiff, Labrador or St Bernard, all Medium, and Cocker Spaniel, Highland Terrier or Pomeranian, all small. Regardless of the shape and size of the auto-dog the stats remain the same. The change can also change the pigment of the polymer plates of the auto-dog.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Reactions

If the auto-dog is within 5ft of its bonded master it can use its reaction to intercept the hit and potentially take the damage instead on its master.

Description

Auto-dogs are built by the constructo-mancers of the Machinarium. They are built from a flexible skeleton with a series of magical plates of metal polymer that form the body of the dog. They are very expensive to build and are generally only bought by the nobles or high members of the merchant guilds.

The auto-dog regains hit points during short rests via it's single d10 hit-die. It can also regain up to 2d10 hit points if Mending is cast on it.
