Blood Call. When a blood amniote strikes a living creature, its touch causes the target’s body to expel some of its own blood through the skin. The blood flows back into the blood amniote, healing it for the amount of damage the amniote inflicted with its Slam. This has no effect on creatures without blood (constructs, elementals, oozes, plants, and undead)
Regeneration. As long as the blood amniote has at least 1 hit point remaining, it heals 10 hit points at the beginning of its turn.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack:+8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 27 (4d10 + 5) bludgeoning damage plus Blood Call.
Split. When a blood amniote that is Medium or larger has healed an amount of hit points with Blood Call equal to its full normal hit point total, it splits into two identical blood amniotes. These new blood amniotes are one size smaller than the original, have two thirds of the original’s hit points (rounded down), and deal 1d10 less bludgeoning damage with a Slam attack (to a minimum of 1d10 + 4 for a Small blood amniote), but their statistics are otherwise identical.
Description
Blood amniotes blur the line between undead and ooze, sharing characteristics with both. It is a mass of congealed blood animated by necrotic energy. It eagerly moves to engage any living creature it is aware of, hoping to draw out its blood. Though they are mindless, they retain vestiges of the memories of past victims whose blood they stole, and occasionally a face or hand seems to press up to the surface of the blood amniote, only to fall back into a formless mass moments later.
DM's note: I designed this creature specifically so that, on average, it will split after 3 rounds of combat no matter what size it is.
