Husk Fortitude. If damage reduces the Animated Husk to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5+ the damage taken. On a success, the Husk drops to 1 hit point instead.
False Appearance. While motionless, the Animated Husk is indistinguishable from an ordinary corpse.
Direct Puppetry. If the Animated Husk has been created by an intelligent creature or force, its creator can inhabit its mind and take direct control of its body, provided its creator has means of doing so. When directly controlled, the Husk gains the Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma scores of its creator, as well as any of its proficiencies. However, it loses the ability to use its Unnatural Animation.
Unnatural Animation. The Animated Husk suffers no penalty to its movement speed while prone.
Multiattack. The Animated Husk makes two Slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) bludgeoning damage.
Entrapping Animation. When the Animated Husk takes damage from a melee weapon attack, it can use its reaction to attempt a grapple against its attacker, provided the target is within 5 feet.
Description
Necromancy is only one means by which the dead may rise. An Animated Husk, however, is different to a typical grave-walker, in that it is not technically undead.
Instead, Animated Husks are the result of corpses being made puppets by some external force, but without being imbued with mimicries of life. They make no verbal sounds, harbour no vestiges of past mortality, and normally possess even less intelligence than the most simple undead, unless that which animates them can do otherwise.
Once animated as a Husk, a corpse can often be forced to perform unsettling and uncanny movements, paying no heed to petty matters such as bodily integrity. However, if that which animates a Husk decides to take direct control of it, it can be forced to more directly mimic a living humanoid, or be used as a walking mouthpiece. Being capable of this feat typically involves psionic powers, or a great understanding of Enchantment.
