Traits

Shapechanger. The baobhan can use its action to polymorph into a wolf, into a crow or raven, or back into its true form, which is humanoid. Its statistics, other than size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying is transformed. It doesn’t revert to its true form if it dies.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The baobhan has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Pack Tactics. The baobhan has advantage on attack rolls against a creature if at least one of the baobhan’s allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

Mimicry. As a crow or raven can mimic simple sounds it has heard, such as a person whispering, a baby crying, or an animal chittering. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful DC 13 Wisdom (Insight) check.

Fey of the Night. During the day, the baobhan gets disadvantage on attack rolls while in humanoid shape.  They are also unable to use their action Alluring Dance.

Fey Glamour. The baobhan may transform its humanoid appearance in order to better hunt its prey. It may decide what it looks like, including its height, weight, facial features, sound of its voice, hair length, coloration, and distinguishing characteristics, if any. It can make itself appear as a member of any bipedal race, though none of its statistics change. It also can't appear as a creature not of medium size.

Actions

Alluring Dance. (Humanoid form only) The baobhan attempts to charm up to two humanoids that can see it within 40 ft. It must make a Wisdom saving throw DC 13, and does so with advantage if the baobhan or its companions are fighting it.  If the target is dancing it performs the saving throw at disadvantage. If it fails the saving throw, it is charmed by the baobhan for one hour.  It may repeat its saving throw if it takes damage from the baobhan or the baobhan’s companions. The charmed creature regards the baobhan as a friendly acquaintance. The charmed creature joins the baobhan in a lively dance and takes a point of exhaustion. When the spell ends, the creature knows it was charmed by the baobhan. A target that succeeds all its saving throws does not know the baobhan attempted to charm it.

Bloody Talons (humanoid form only). Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target.  The baobhan makes this attack with advantage if the target is charmed by it or has at least one level or point of exhaustion. Hit: The baobhan cuts open the targets chest or throat with talon like fingernails. Target takes 12 (3d4 +4) slashing damage. If the target is charmed or has at least one point of exhaustion the baobhan drinks from the wound, the damage is doubled, and the baobhan regains health equal to the amount of damage done by this attack.

Bite. (In wolf form only) Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 11 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Beak. (in crow or raven form only) Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 piercing damage.

Reactions

Dancers grace. The baobhan may shift 5 ft. As a result of taking damage from an attack or hazard.

Description

Believed to be born of either the bittersweet longing of hunters for companionship, the vengeance of hunted beasts, or the violation of the wilderness. Their humanoid form is that of beautiful women with the feet of deer. They will usually wear long skirts or dresses to hide these limbs from their prey. Their fingernails are strong and talon like.

These fey travel the wilds as wolf, raven, or crow.  They will seek out parties of hunters, especially those their keen hearing has heard express desire for companionship. Typically they hunt parties of three to four, matching the numbers of their own pack or murder.  They will not approach their prey in daylight.

Whenever possible the baobhan will first attempt to engage the hunters in dancing. They are even capable of casting a charm on their prey. Once their prey are exhausted they will feed by cutting open the chest or throat of their prey to drink their blood.

While their perception does not suffer from daylight, their charms do not work under the light of the sun.  Their humanoid shape is weakened as well.  These disadvantages and the increased chance of travelers lead to sudden retreat at the breaking of the dawn.

This fey shapechanger is resistant to most non-magical attacks. Only weapons of silver make or that have been silvered are able to cut threw this resistance without magical aid.
