Blaze. When injured or entering combat the fire wasp secretes a flammable gel that ignites on contact with air. The gel coats their bodies and any creature striking or grappling the wasp with a natural or unarmed attack takes 7 (2d6) fire damage
Multiattack. The fire wasp makes a bite and sting attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) fire damage.
Sting. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the target is stable but poisoned for 1 hour, even after regaining hit points, and is paralyzed while poisoned in this way.
Description
The size of a large dog the carnivorous fire wasp's chitin is usually charcoal black with splashes of red down the centre of the abdomen and around the mandibles. They often form colonies of 20 to 30 individuals with a brood queen at the centre of the hive. The wasps roam the territory around their hive hunting for prey or scavenging for carrion. Live prey is paralysed and transported back to the hive where eggs are implanted into the body and wrapped in silky cocoons for the young to consume.
The silk is immune to fire and therefore highly prized for the material that can be woven from it.
