Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Nimble: The Dragon can take the Dodge Action as a bonus action. However, its Reactive body ability cannot trigger while the dragon benefits from this ability.

Siege Monster: The Ashfire Dragon’s breath weapon does double damage to buildings and objects.

Amphibious: The dragon can breathe air and water.

Special Fire: The fire damage that this dragon uses is not effected by fire immunity or resistance.

Limited Polymorph. The ashfire dragon can only polymorph into smaller versions of itself.

Actions

Multiattack: The dragon makes three attacks, two claw attacks and either one bite or tail attack.

Claw Attack: +18, reach 5ft, hits one, hit(2d6+10 slashing+Ashfire Oil)

Tail Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10ft, hits one, hit(2d8+10 slashing, +Ashfire Oil)

Bite Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10ft, hits one, hit(2d10+10 piercing, +Ashfire Oil)

Ashfire Oil:As a bonus action the Ashfire Dragon can coat its claws and teeth with its terrible ashfire oil. This causes their claws to do 8d6 extra fire damage on a hit with any of its natural attacks. Any character which would take this damage must make a DC16 Constitution  saving throw or take 6d6 Acid damage the next round. The oil coating on the dragons natural weapons lasts for 1 minute, and must be reapplied as a bonus action after this time.

Breath Weapon (Recharge 5-6): 90ft cone of 32d6 fire damage, with recurring 10d6 acid damage for those who fail the DC 22 Dex save, or an 20ft burst within 200ft which does the same damage but also reacts with the environment. Explodes water for extra damage, sets terrain on fire, and does very serious building damage.

Reactions

Reactive Body: Whenever an Ashfire Dragon takes more than a 20 slashing/piercing/bludgeoning damage, the Ashfire oil in their body and blood can very easily affect the person attacking them. This can be avoided on a DC22 Dexterity save or take 18d6 fire damage and must also  roll a DC22 Con save or take 10d6 acid damage at the end of their next turn.

Legendary Actions

The dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Detect. The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.

Tail Attack. The dragon makes a tail attack.

Description

Life Cycle

These dragons grow and age faster than other dragons, and like other dragons have no limit as to how old they can become. However, once an Ashfire dragon reaches a certain age past Ancient(whenever it should be), they begin losing control of their mental faculties. This leads to them becoming erratic and volatile. As a result when they begin to lose themselves to this madness it is tradition for them honorably end their own life before they become a danger to their flight. The flight will then use portions of the dead dragon to make nests for their young to live in safely.

Appearance

No one body type is universal to the Ashfire Dragons, although specific traits are. These beasts often look like twisted copies of the kind of dragon they would have been, with broken vestigial wings and smaller, frail forms compared to their progenitors. Their scales are always a sickly yellow green color, but the sheen of the scales depends on what species of dragon bore their egg. Without exception these dragons have long, wicked claws and a powerful tail which allows them to move swiftly in water.  To compensate for their lack of functional wings these dragons are swift on their feet and make for excellent swimmers.

Relations

Among the dragons of any color or sheen, there is no dragon more revilied than the Ashfire Dragon. Many evil dragons will kill them immediately, due to the threat the pose to them and their young. Neutral Dragons often avoid them unless provoked which can create a sort of uneasy truce between Ashfire flights and more traditional flights. Good aligned dragons often pity what they view to be poor broken beings, but they hunt evil Ashfire dragons relentlessly. In the end the people these dragons are on the best terms with are often mortals. Given their natural affinity for dragon killing they can form strange symbiotic relations with kingdoms that have dragon problems.
