Traits

Bloodstone Skin. The giant resists the elements of Carceri and is not impeded by sandstorms and similar features though its field of vision is reduced to 40 ft.

Blood Tracking. The giant can sense a creature who is not undead or a construct that has been reduced to half of its hit points or less within 1 mile. When fighting a creature that has been reduced to half of its hit points or less, the giant has advantage.

Actions

Multiattack. The giant makes two scimitar attacks.

Scimitar. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 24 (3d10 + 8) slashing damage.

Rock. Ranged Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, range 60/240 ft., one target. Hit: 28 (4d10 + 6) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 17 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Bonus Actions

As a bonus action, the giant causes an area around it in a 15 ft. radius to become blinding, whirling sand. Any creature starting in the area or entering the area is [condition]blinded[condition] while in the area. The area remains stationary but remains for 1 minute or until the giant takes a bonus action to cause it to dissipate. The giant may only have one such area summoned at a time.

This ability can only be used if the giant is standing on sand, dirt, or similar loose ground (not rock or inside a structure for example).

Reactions

Rock Catching. If a rock or similar object is hurled at the giant, the giant can, with a successful DC 10 Dexterity saving throw, catch the missile and take no bludgeoning damage from it.

Bloody Repose. If a creature with half of its hit points or less misses an attack against the giant, the giant makes one attack against the target with its scimitar if they are within range.

Description

Bloodsand giants roam the planes, feasting on wayward souls they encounter without mercy or barter, especially loving to make drinks from the blood of their victims and to consume souls manifesting on the outer planes.

Bloodsand giants mostly roam the worlds of Carceri but can also occasionally be found in the Abyss or the Nine Hells as well and, on very rare occasions, in a place of great suffering and death such as a field of battle in an especially violent war on the material plane.

Bloodsand giants do not barter as they crave little other than blood and souls though they are impressed with great shows of strength and martial prowess, sometimes letting a great fighter live so that they may fight them again at a later time. They will be quite impressed with those who best them but not beg for their lives as they believe everything has its ending, even their kind.
