Traits

Illumination. The arclight phoenix sheds bright light in a 5-foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet.

A Spark of Life. When the baby arclight phoenix dies, it explodes. Each creature within 5 feet of it must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking 6 (2d6) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The explosion destroys the baby arclight phoenix but leaves behind a tiny, warm egg with a mizzium shell.

The egg may hatch before 1d6 days have passed if it's in the area of a spell that deals lightning damage, or if a creature touches the egg and expends spell slots whose combined levels equal 4 or more. When it hatches, the egg releases a new baby arclight phoenix that appears in the egg’s space.

Grounded Lightning. The first time on a turn that the baby arclight phoenix touches the ground, it takes 2 (1d4) force damage.

Actions

Lightning Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) slashing damage plus 3 (1d6) lightning damage.

Description

The baby arclight phoenix seems to have a body with a definite shape but in reality it is made of lightning. The baby arclight phoenix can only travel by air or by being transported by someone, in such a way that it does not stay in contact with the ground, because if it were to go down to the ground it would risk to disperse in the ground and in order to oppose such force it must make a considerable effort.

Elemental Nature. An arclight phoenix doesn’t require air, food, drink, or sleep.
