Traits

Hold Breath. The Akron can hold its breath for 1 hour.

False Appearance. While completely still, if the Akron's body is submerged and its neck is erect, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary swamp tree.

Actions

Camouflage. The Akron submerges its body underwater and sticks its neck in the air. It then has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks to hide from creatures.

Multiattack. The Akron makes two bite attacks.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 15 ft., 1 target. Hit: 17 (3d8 + 6) piercing damage.

Blinding Acid Spray. Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, range 20/60 ft., 1 target. Hit: 15 (2d12) acid damage. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be blinded for four days. At the end of a long rest, the target can repeat the saving throw. At the end of the four days, if the target is still blinded and it fails the saving throw by 5 or more, it is permanently blinded, unless cured by magic.

Bonus Actions

Swallow. If the Akron reduces a creature to 0 hit points, if the creature is Medium or smaller, it eats it. If the swallowed creature is not outright dead, it takes an additional 3d8 + 6 piercing damage as it is swallowed, and takes 7d8 acid damage for every turn it finishes after being swallowed. A swallowed creature cannot be revived by magic.

Reactions

Lash Out. If the Akron is camouflaged and a creature is within 15 feet of it, it can use its reaction to lash out and use a bite attack on the creature. The Akron has advantage on the attack roll. To do this, the Akron must be able to see the creature.

Description

Akrons are large, swamp-dwelling creatures that hunt creatures with stealth. They resemble Plesiosauruses, with large fins and flat, fish-like bodies, and long necks. At the end of their neck, they have a huge head resembling a giant crocodile's. Their neck is covered in green, leaf-like frills that, along with its wood-brown scales, allow it to blend in with surrounding trees. When hunting, Akrons submerge their bodies in water and stick their necks in the air, to resemble trees. When its prey passes by, it lashes out and eats the creature. Although their thick scales protect them from many attacks, its weakness is holy and searing hot weapons.
