Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action to polymorph into an object or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Adhesive (Object Form Only). The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Medium or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 11). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary object.
Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) bludgeoning damage. If the mimic is in object form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) piercing damage plus 2 (1d4) acid damage, and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target is inebriated. An inebriated creature is poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned this way, the target suffers 1 random effect. Roll a d10 to determine the effect from the options below:
d12 | Effect |
1 | The target is blinded |
2 | The target is affected as it would be by the enemies abound spell |
3 | The target is affected as it would be by the confusion spell |
4 | The target spends its actions sobbing and/or apologizing to everyone for everything it has ever done |
5 | The target falls prone and can't stand back up. |
6 | The target is affected as it would be by the stinking cloud spell |
7 | The target is affected as it would be by consuming a philter of love |
8 | The creature is affected as it would be by the phantasmal force |
9 | The target is affected as it would be by the hideous laughter |
10 | The creature is affected as it would be by the otto's irresistible dance spell |
If an inebriated creature is subject to another inebriation effect, it rolls on the table again (rerolling any duplicates), suffering an additional effect.
At the end of each of its turns, an inebriated creature can repeat the saving throw, ending one inebriation effect on a success. The effect that ends is the one the target has suffered the longest. When the target is free of all inebriation effects, it is also free of being poisoned. A spell or effect that cures the poisoned condition also cures all inebriation effects.
Description
One would think its Tiny size would usually make a humanoid a difficult prey item for a tankard mimic. However, they make their way into pub and taverns where they make good use of something to level the playing field: ale. No matter how big or how tough a creature might be, get enough ale in him and he's all but helpless.
Tankard mimics consume and store some of the drink they are used to serve. The acid produce by their bodies chemically distills the ale they store, producing a much stronger brew than the initial product. When a tankard mimic bites, it can release some of this brew directly from its fangs into a target's bloodstream, causing nearly instantaneous intoxication.
