Description

Sildar Hallwinter is a retired soldier and sellsword who hails from the city of Neverwinter. He is a loyal member of the Lords’ Alliance, a political organization that unites the various free cities and towns of the North. At least, that is what everyone believes. . .

In truth, Hallwinter harbors a cold resentment about being forced to retire from the Waterdeep Griffon Cavalry. Griffons bond with their assigned rider for life - so when Hallwinter's griffon, Sabine, was killed in the line of duty, his commanding officers decided that it would be a waste to bond a new griffon to a “seasoned” soldier. . . The WGC retired Hallwinter early instead.

Embittered, and mourning his beloved mount, Sildar Hallwinter was slowly recruited into the employ of the infamous Waterdhavian criminal, The Serpent. Hallwinter was given the alias “The Black Spider” and sent north to be The Serpent’s eyes and ears in Neverwinter.

A few days ago, Hallwinter received instructions from The Serpent - a fellow operative sent to the nearby town of Phandalin has disappeared. The Serpent suspects that the operative has gone rogue, and is behind a new gang of thugs harassing the settlement.

Worse, recent rumors suggest that dwarves by the name of Rockseeker have located the legendary Wave Echo Cave. This is an opportunity The Serpent will not let slip through his fingers!

The Black Spider is instructed to ingratiate himself with a Rockseeker dwarf currently in Neverwinter and obtain any possible information about the cave’s location. Hallwinter must next travel to Phandalin, “deal with” the missing agent, and complete the mission to secure the Wave Echo Cave.
