Burning Tantrum. If the Aitvaras is engaged in combat or feels threatened, it gives off bright light for 20ft. and dim light for an additional 20ft. Any creature that comes within 5ft. of a startled Aitvaras on its turn or starts its turn there takes 5 (1d10) Fire damage. Flammable objects not being worn or carried burst into flames if they come within 5ft. of a startled Aitvaras. While glowing like this, it has disadvantage on Dexterity(Stealth) checks. The Aitvaras can choose to turn this effect on and off as a bonus action.
Fizzling Death. If the Aitvaras dies, it disperses into sparks, leaving behind anything in its possession.
Elusive (Rooster Form Only). Opportunity attacks against the Aitvaras have disadvantage. Additionally, if the Aitvaras is forced to make a Dexterity saving throw to take half damage from an effect, it instead takes half damage if it fails the saving throw, and no damage if it succeeds.
Clumsy Flyer. The Aitvaras falls if it ends its turn while flying.
Multiattack. The Aitvaras makes two melee attacks.
Talons (Rooster Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) Slashing damage. This attack has advantage if the target is Surprised. Instead of dealing damage, the Aitvaras can choose to steal an item from the target that weighs less than 10lbs.
Bite (Dragon Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, Reach 10ft., 1 target. Hit: 9 (1d12+3) Piercing damage and 3 (1d6) Fire damage.
Expel Flame (Recharge 5-6). The Aitvaras expels flame from itself. If it is in Rooster form, this attack takes the form of a burst of fire in a 10 foot radius sphere centered on the Aitvaras. If it is in Dragon form, it expels fire in a 20 foot cone in a direction of its choice. A creature caught in the fire must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 21(6d6) Fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Flammable objects in this area not being worn or carried catch fire.
Change Shape. The Aitvaras can use an Action to transform into a Large, serpentine dragon, or back into its Rooster form. While in its Dragon form, the Aitvaras's Dexterity and Strength scores switch values. While in Dragon form, it has resistance to nonmagical Bludgeoning, Piercing and Slashing damage.
Description
Aitvaras are rare fey spirits that take the form of a black rooster with a flaming tail. Though if threatened, they can take the shape of a salamander-like dragon in order to frighten or slay potential threats.
Familial Bond.
Though they are fickle creatures by nature, Aitvaras can be communed with using specially-prepared food and other humble gifts. If befriended, an Aitvaras will take on a guardian role over its bonded family, watching over them throughout the generations. So long as due reverence is paid and it continues to be treated well, the Aitvaras will help to bring fortune to its newfound family. However, if it is mistreated or disrespected, the Aivaras will just as quickly bring fiery disaster upon its host family.
On occasion, an Aitvaras may bond to a family without their knowledge. In such cases, the family will find themselves mysteriously blessed with gifts in their times of need, while others in the area report mysterious theft and property damage.
Anything For The Family.
The Aitvaras will procure anything and everything its bonded family needs, by any means necessary. They have no reservations about stealing food or other material goods, and will often begin to fulfill even the most ill-advised desires of its family. The Aitvaras will not risk its life or willingly commit murder in order to provide its quarry, but it will destroy property and steal indiscriminately. If its bonded family is threatened, it will fight to the death to protect them. It will never willingly harm a family member unless they attack it first.
