Magic Weapons. The vault guardian’s weapon attacks are magical.
Water Form. The vault guardian can enter a hostile creature's space but cannot stop there. If it ends it's turn while in another creature's space, it is ejected to the closest unoccupied space and takes 5 force damage for every 5 feet it moves.
Freeze. If the vault guardian takes cold damage, it partially freezes; its speed is reduced by 20 feet until the end of its next turn.
Multiattack. The vault guardian makes two trident attacks.
Trident. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage, or 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage if used with two hands to make a melee attack.
Freezing Strikes (Recharge 6). The vault guardian uses Multiattack. Each attack that hits deals an extra 4 (1d8) cold damage. A target that is hit by one or more of these attacks has its speed reduced by 10 feet until the end of the vault guardian’s next turn.
Hurricane Burst (Recharge 6). The vault guardian releases a crackling burst of stormy energy. All creature within a 10 ft. radius of the vault guardian must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 5 (1d10) lightning damage as well as 5 (1d10) thunder damage, is pushed back 10 ft., and is knocked prone. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and is neither pushed back nor knocked prone.
Attack. The vault guardian makes one Trident attack.
Crashing Wave (Costs 2 Actions). The vault guardian moves up to its speed. Any creature whose space it passes through must make a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Frozen Heart (Costs 3 Actions). The vault guardian entombs itself in ice, which melts away at the end of its next turn. It gains 45 temporary hit points. Immediately after it uses this legendary action, it gains vulnerability to fire damage, its speed is reduced to 0, and it is incapacitated. If any temporary hit points remain at the beginning of its turn, they are removed and it heals for the same amount.
Description
Vault Guardians are magical constructs created by the Bank or Pearls to guard their treasure hordes. Similar in appearance to normal elementals, these guardians have a few key differences. They wear armor and wield weapons made of their respective element. They are also significantly more intelligent than their brethren, possessing the capacity to speak. Additionally, unlike elementals that are conjured, vault guardians possess unswerving loyalty to their creators, obeying any orders given to them until their death.
Water Vault Guardians. Vault guardians formed of water have the strength of a crashing wave, the speed of a lightning strike, and the endurance of a frozen glacier. Most commonly seen among coastal cities (where their creators would have easy access to water), they are highly prevalent in Odey Twun, and can be commonly seen roaming around the headquarters of the Bank of Pearls. They wield a trident made of ice, and their eyes flash with lightning. Specifically designed to ward off intruders, these constructs are sure to send any would be treasure theives to a watery grave.
