Maker of Many Faces. Maskcarvers are strange creatures, always hiding their face and offering to hide the faces of others. Creatures have disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks to discern the intentions of the maskcarver.

Spellcasting. The Maskcarver is a 5th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 15, +7 to hit with spell attacks). The Maskcarver has following Bard spells prepared:

Actions

Don the Mask. As an action, the maskcarver can don a random mask from their collection. Roll a d6 (or d8, for the additional last two) to determine which mask the maskcarver chooses. The effects of the mask last for a minute, or until the maskcarver uses this ability again.

  1. Mask of Aberrations. While wearing the mask, the maskcarver's attacks deal an additional 4 (1d6) psychic damage, and it has telepathy out to 30 ft.
  2. Mask of Beasts. While wearing this mask, the maskcarver changes into a beast of challenge rating 4 or lower. The maskcarver takes on the Hit Points, Armor Class, and the Strength, Dexterity, Constitution scores of the new creature. This effect ends early if the maskcarver's hit points drop to zero. While in this form, the maskcarver cannot access any of its equipment.
  3. Mask of the Mechanical. While wearing this mask, the maskcarver treats all d20 rolls as a 10. In addition, it can use its reaction to replace any attack roll made against it with a 10.
  4. Mask of the Dragon. While wearing this mask, the maskcarver has resistance to one of the following damages: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. The maskcarver's weapon attacks deal an additonal 1d6 of the chosen damage type.
  5. Mask of the Elder Rune. While wearing this mask, the maskcarver is treated as if it was under the effects of the enlarge/reduce spell without having its size changed.
  6. Mask of the Forest Guardian. While wearing this mask and standing within 5 ft. of a plant, the maskcarver can use a bonus action to teleport to another plant within 30 ft. that it can see.
  7. Mask of the Forbidden Skull. While wearing this mask, undead have disadvantage on attack rolls against the maskcarver.
  8. Mask of Illusions. While wearing this mask, the maskcarver shapechanges into a Medium humanoid.

Carving Knife. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 8 (1d6 + 4) slashing damage.

Description

In hidden glens in the Feywild, maskcarvers whittle away at their newest projects, carving new masks for themselves and for more powerful clients who are willing to offer the right price. While their personal magical power doesn't appear all that great, the skill of their craft allows them to enhance their abilities further.

Hey! What's with the little "LK's" thing?

I'm so glad you asked! To keep my homebrew creations separate from official material in my collections, I mark everything I mark with "LK's," which keeps it sorted separate from everything else and lets everyone I'm playing with know that this isn't RAW material, especially if I'm sharing for a campaign I'm playing in. This is something I'm slowly implementing to my already published homebrew on the site as well, giving everyone who uses my content the same heads-up. It also marks this as something I've made by attaching my online initials to the content.
