Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Vorinclex fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
Consume. When a creature swallowed by Vorinclex dies, Vorinclex gains a number of temporary hit points equal to half that creature's maximum hit points and any negative conditions on him are removed.
Degenerative Aura. Hostile creatures within 30 feet of Vorinclex cannot regain hit points or gain temporary hit points.
Magic Resistance. Vorinclex has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Multiattack. Vorinclex makes three attacks: one with his bite and two with his claws. One attack can be replaced by Swallow.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 29 (4d10 + 7) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it is grappled (escape DC 22). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and Vorinclex can't bite another target.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (4d6 + 7) slashing damage.
Gore. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 25 (4d8 + 7) bludgeoning damage.
Swallow. Vorinclex makes one bite attack against a Medium or smaller creature he is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the bite's damage, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside Vorinclex, and it takes 45 (13d6) acid damage at the start of each of Vorinclex's turns.
If Vorinclex takes 50 damage or more on a single turn from a swallowed creature, he must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of Vorinclex. If Vorinclex dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 30 feet of movement, exiting prone.
Vorinclex can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Vorinclex regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.
Claw. Vorinclex makes one claw attack.
Devour (Costs 2 Actions). Vorinclex makes one bite attack or uses Swallow.
Goring Charge (Costs 3 Actions). Vorinclex moves up to his movement speed in a straight line and can move through the space of any creature Large or smaller. The first time he enters each creature’s space during this move, he can make a gore attack against that creature.
Description
"The perfect Phyrexian predator does not evolve from experimentation. Jin Gitaxias will never find the right formula from one of his vats. We can facilitate predation, but any more interference will ruin the specimen." —Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger
A native Phyrexian beast known as Vorinclex rules the Tangle, but since the war began, he cloistered himself in the ruins of Tel-Jilad. Surrounded by his advisors, he is rarely seen by anyone else. His closest advisor is Glissa, formerly a Viridian elf, who was compleated during the years that Phyrexia lurked in the core. Now, she has become the de facto ruler of the region.
Glissa pressed for Phyrexians to leave the Core and begin the assault on the surface of Mirrodin, while Vorinclex spends much of his time in the ruins of Tel-Jilad. The nature of the Vicious Swarm means that no leader is particularly revered, however—the survival of the fittest is the only sovereign among this bloc of terrifying apex predators.
Bestial and hideously anatomical, Vorinclex is the praetor who appears the most organic in his construction—and yet his philosophy aligns with Phyrexia's hatred of flesh and idealization of the machine. Grown deep within the Core from a system of vats and birthing pods, Vorinclex is an artificial design that represents one of Phyrexia's greatest successes in replicating the ferocity and ruthlessness of nature.
Vorinclex seeks to achieve Phyrexian perfection by using the plane as one grand arena, subsuming the strong and devouring the weak. Any flaw in Phyrexia's strength is to be hunted down and consumed in a process of simulated, guided, "natural" selection.
