Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/day). When Yutabey fails a saving throw, he chooses to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. Yutabey has advantage on saving throws against magical effects.

Displacement. All attacks against Yutabey have disadvantage. If Yutabey takes more than 20 damage in one hit, this ability ceases to function until the start of Yutabey's next turn. Yutabey can deactivate his displacement at will.

Epic Physiology. Whenever Yutabey makes a STR, DEX, or CON ability check or saving throw, he may choose to add +10 to the roll. If he still fails, he cannot use this ability until he takes a long rest. Whenever Yutabey passes a STR, DEX, or CON saving throw, he may let out a roar of unrivaled power. Every creature of Yutabey's choice within a mile gains 30 temporary hitpoints, as they gain a blessing of protection from Yutabey.

Arcane Ward (3/long rest). When Yutabey casts an abjuration spell, he may choose to create a ward around his body. Whenever Yutabey gets hit, the ward will receive all the damage first. Any leftover damage will carry over to Yutabey. The ward has 50 hitpoints, but can be dispelled through “Dispel Magic” cast at 5th level or higher. When the ward is reduced to 0 hitpoints, it’s magic remains. For every other abjuration spell you cast, the ward will heal an amount of hitpoints equal to double the level of the spell.

Engine of Abjuration. When Yutabey casts an epic level abjuration spell, he may create an orb of pure energy called a "spell engine". The spell engine hovers next to Yutabey at all times, occupying his space. While the spell engine is active, the following effects are active:

  • The spell engine has 100 hit points per tier of the Epic spell slot used to create it. When a creature within 60 feet of the spell engine takes damage, you may choose to have the spell engine take the damage instead. If this damage reduces the engine to 0 hit points, any affected creatures take the remaining damage and the engine is destroyed.
  • Invisible creatures within 60 feet of you are made visible and you are aware of any spell effects within 60 feet of you. You see a faint aura around any visible creature or object in the area that bears magic, and you learn its school of magic, if any.

Supreme War Caster. Yutabey has achieved perfect mastery of the arcane. As a result, he’s gained the following benefits:

  • Yutabey has advantage on saving throws made to maintain concentration
  • Yutabey may take opportunity attacks with spells
  • Yutabey casts spells through tattoos on his body, as a result he may cast spells with both hands occupied.
  • Yutabey may maintain concentration on two spells at once. Whenever he takes damage, he may choose which spell effect he makes a concentration save for.
  • When Yutabey casts a spell of 8th level or lower, he may also cast a spell of 4th level or lower as part of that casting. This effect does not apply during legendary actions.
  • Yutabey can become immune to his own spells, if he chooses.
  • The DC for a creature attempting to end a spell effect created by Yutabey with Dispel Magic or Counterspell that is cast at a lower level then the spell is increased by 9.

Supreme Arcane Recovery. Yutabey may recover 10 spell slots worth of spells on a short rest. At the start of each of Yutabey’s turns, roll 1d6. On a roll of 5-6 he recharges a spell slot of 7th level or lower.

Master of the Arcane. When Yutabey casts a Necromancy or Abjuration spell of 5th level or lower, the spell instantly becomes 5th level.

Epic Spellbook. Yutabey’s spellbook cannot be destroyed, and is unreadable to anyone but him. He can summon his spellbook to his hand at will.

Innate Spellcasting. Yutabey may cast the following spells innately:

(at will): Finger of Death, Fizban’s Platinum Shield, Greater Restoration

(1/day): Blackout, Obselecence, Gate, Tether Essence

Actions

Multiattack. Yutabey makes two Arcane Strikes per action, and may replace the second attack with either a casting of an at will spell, Antimagic Blast, or Cataclysmic Punch.

Arcane Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 24 (4d6 + 8) magical bludgeoning damage. Regardless of whether this attack hits or misses, Yutabey may cast a cantrip as part of this attack. The cantrip will target whatever the target of this attack was, and automatically hits if this attack hit.

Antimagic Blast. Ranged Weapon Attack: +21 to hit, range 60 ft., 1 target. Hit: 20 (2d8 + 10) force damage. A creature hit by this attack that has the ability to cast spells must make a DC 25 INT saving throw. On a failed save, the creature loses 2d8 levels of spell slots of Yutabey's choice. Additionally, if the creature is concentrating on a spell of 6th level or lower, that spell ends.

Cataclysmic Punch (Recharges 5-6). Every creature within a 90 foot cone must make a DC 23 STR saving throw, taking 20d4 bludgeoning damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful save. On a failed save, the creature is also knocked back 20ft.

Reactions

Absorb Elements. Yutabey casts Absorb Elements innately. This casting of Absorb Elements gives Yutabey resistance to the triggering damage type for a minute, if he chooses to maintain concentration.

Projected Ward. When a creature within 30ft. of Yutabey receives damage, Yutabey may choose to have his Arcane Ward take the damage instead.

Copycat. If a spell is cast within 100ft. of Yutabey, he instantly learns how to cast that spell, and can do so for the next hour. If he chooses, he can copy what he learned in his spellbook over 10 minutes. Yutabey retains any special conditions of the casting for the next hour. For example, if someone uses a Twin Spell metamagic, Yutabey is able to Twin Spell cast that spell for the next hour.

Legendary Actions

Yutabey can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Yutabey regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

Quickstrike. Yutabey makes an Arcane Strike attack without casting a cantrip.

Master of the Weave (Costs 2 Actions). Yutabey casts a spell of 6th level or lower.

Choke Slam (Costs 3 Actions.) Yutabey goes to grab one creature he sees within 10ft. of him. That creature must make a contested Athletics check with Yutabey. Yutabey has advantage on the check if the target is a medium or smaller creature. If Yutabey fails, nothing happens. If Yutabey succeeds, the target is grappled. While grappled in this way, the target is restrained, and is being choked by Yutabey. While being choked, the target cannot speak and cannot cast spells with verbal components unless they do not need to breathe. On the start of Yutabey's turn, he jumps 100ft. in the air without provoking opportunity attacks, and slams the target down anywhere within 50ft. of where he originally jumped. The target takes 60 (15d6) bludgeoning damage and is knocked prone. The target must also make a DC 20 CON saving throw, becoming stunned until the end of their next turn on a failed save.

Description

Yutabey, formerly known as Rika by the Goliath tribes, determined that Mystra was unfit to play the role of the god of magic due to her fragile body. Rika was struggling with a violent split personality known as Alta. Alta viewed himself as all powerful due to his magical aptitudes. Around 1053 HC, Alta challenged Mystra to a duel for the title of the God of Magic. Mystra, now very used to this type of challenged, nonchalantly accepted. Although Mystra was able to supress Alta's magic, Alta summoned his strength, and brutally killed Mystra with his bare hands. Rika and Alta became known as Yutabey, the God of Magic. Yutabey demonstrates extreme magical power, and is known as the most powerful mage to ever live. Yutabey has created a system of magic that makes him fundamentally immortal without the need of a phylactery.
