Description
Bogarts are small shape shifting creatures with the looks of a stout halfling with grey skin and pig nose and ears. These small unseelie survive the harsh environment through guile and illusion rather than brute strength, using their shape changing to go unnoticed along with their illusion magic to confuse and deter predators. Their intelligence and witty nature tend to make them tricksters, using their innate abilities to sense the dreams and fears of creatures to use those very fears against them, making their illusions that more real.
When in the mortal plane, not being hunted by owlbears, displacer beasts, and other manner of fey predators, the bogarts turn their power on humanoids, seeing them as easy marks. Generally, they sneak up to encampments, learning what they can from local wildlife, learn of the humanoids fears, and during the night make illusions to insight fear and panic, causing sleep deprivation. During these dream gatherings and tricks, bogarts enjoy stealing shiny and metallic objects, making their nests out of these objects to show how clever they are for stealing them.
Above all things, bogarts are conniving and cowardly, so even though they show a witty and cruel visage, they will run if they feel their illusions have been made or that they have gotten in over their head.
