Unfettered Sight. Magical darkness doesn't impede the placator's darkvision.
Magic Resistance. The placator has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Horrifying Visage. Each creature that can see the face of the placator must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if the placator is in line-of-sight. On a successful save, the target is immune for the next 24 hours.
Multiattack. The placator makes two attacks with its chains.
Chain. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage. The target is grappled (escape DC 14) if the placator isn't already grappling a creature. Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and takes 7 (2d6) piercing damage at the start of each of its turns.
Animate Chains (Recharges on a 4-6). Up to four chains the placator can see within 60 feet of it magically sprout razor-edged barbs and animate under the placator's control, provided that the chains aren't being worn or carried.
Each animated chain is an object with AC 20, 20 hit points, resistance to piercing damage, and immunity to psychic and thunder damage. When the placator uses multiattack on its turn, it can use each animated chain to make one additional chain attack. An animated chain can grapple one creature of its own but can't make attacks while grappling. An animated chain reverts to its inanimate state if reduced to 0 hit points or if the placator is incapacitated or dies.
The placator's chains (whether those it appears with, or those it animates) emit anti-magic fields, and any creature grappled by them is rendered magic-less for the duration of the grapple. Non-aeorian constructs are rendered inert for the duration of the grapple. Aeorian constructs remain alert, but cannot cast magic.
Counterspell. The placator attempts to interrupt a creature that it can see within 60 ft in the process of casting a spell. If the creature is casting a spell of 3rd level or lower, its spell fails and has no effect. If it is casting a spell of 4th level or higher, the Placator makes a Charisma check with a DC equal to 10+ the spell's level. On a success, the creature's spell fails and has no effect.
Description
Aeorian Placators are believed to have been developed by the mages of Aeor by combining humanoids with chain devils captured from the Nine Hells. It would seem to be a complement to their existing menagerie of Absorbers, Nullifiers, and Reversers.
Mottled purple and black under the chains enshrouding its body, the Placator was used to incapacitate magic users who stood against Aeor. By rendering them magic-less, they could be further subdued.
Like all of the Hunters created by Aeor, they are ageless, won't harm another of their kind, and are ravenously violent.
