Crafted in Light. The Ghost can shine bright light from it's eye in a 60 ft. cone. If the Ghost takes any necrotic damage, it's maximum hit points decreases by the amount of damage taken.
Living Machine. Even though your Ghost is a construct, it has a personality and level of intelligence no different from other sentient biotic life. Your Ghost is considered a living creature. It does not need to eat, sleep, or drink, though it can choose to enter a rest state if it wants to.
Integrated Communications. The Ghost is able to detect, read, and communicate across most digital and quantum signals. They can record video and audio, and they can always communicate internally with their Guardian via neural symbiosis.
Ultralight. Your Ghost’s weight limit is 7 lbs. It cannot lift, push, pull, or drag a weight in excess of this limit. If your Ghost is ever carrying a physical weight in excess of its weight limit, it is considered Restrained.
Naturally Stealthy. A Ghost can attempt to hide even when it is only obscured by a creature or object that is at least one size larger than itself.
Pocket-Backpack. Once the Ghost has chosen it's Guardian, it can disappear into a pocket dimension within 5 ft. of it's Guardian. When in this pocket-backpack, it can communicate telepathically with it's Guardian, is immune to all damage and effects, and cannot be seen by any means normally or magically. The Ghost can only do this if it's Guardian is alive, unconscious or not.
Regeneration. If the Ghost's Guardian has lost any health, it can use an action to begin it's health regeneration, healing the Guardian by 15 health per turn. Taking any damage prevents this effect from taking place. The Ghost cannot be in it's pocket-backpack to use this action.
Resurrection. In the event that it's Guardian dies, the Ghost can spend a turn hovering over the body of the Guardian, or the last place it was killed if it has been disintegrated. Then, on it's next turn, it channels the Light to bring the Guardian back to life as if by a true resurrection. If the Guardian dies by a damage output that exceeds 100 necrotic damage or dies in a Suppressive Light Zone, the Guardian cannot be brought back to life.
Paracasual Scanner. The Ghost can us an action to scan anything in a 15 ft. cone in front of it, learning one random thing about whatever it just scanned. It cannot rescan the same thing more than once in the same day.
Quick Thinking. If the Ghost is within 5 ft. of it's Guardian when it's forced to make a saving throw from a threat it can perceive, it can disappear into it's pocket-backpack. It is immune to all damage and effects when it does this.
Description
Ghosts are small, sapient machines created by the Traveler shortly after the Collapse. Their sole purpose is to locate and resurrect deceased individuals capable of wielding the Light as Guardians, and to support their Guardian charge in combat.
Ghosts are floating machine entities slightly larger than a human hand. They consist of a spherical core with a single glowing "eye", which is surrounded by a "shell" of several pieces that can separate and rotate freely around the central sphere. The default Ghost shell consists of eight roughly tetrahedral segments colored white with orange highlights, but there is a huge diversity of shells available that Ghosts can adopt for cosmetic purposes.
Every Ghost has a unique personality and identity, though not necessarily a name. This personality may be intended to complement that of the Chosen they're meant to eventually revive, and often they have a name coined by their Chosen, whilst others may take names they are given by others.
When a Ghost revives their Chosen, they are bonded together from that point forward. A "neural symbiosis" begins between them. Every Ghost has one specific person they are meant to revive. For some, their Chosen is a sort of "soul mate" and they know instinctively when the right remains have been found; for others, they simply search until they find someone they feel is worthy of the Light or has a "spark". Many Ghosts have spent the time since the Collapse searching fruitlessly for their Chosen. In the worst case, their Chosen's corpse may be irretrievably destroyed before they could be revived, leaving the Ghost's quest eternally unfinished.
Some Ghosts lose hope in ever finding their Chosen; these usually find some other way to make themselves useful, such as joining the Vanguard's covert Spectral Network, where they act as scouts and spies for the Vanguard. Ghosts that never find their Chosen may be referred to as "unconnected" or "unpartnered".
On revival, the Ghost's Chosen becomes a Light-bearing Guardian. Once a Ghost chooses, they can revive no one else. It is possible for a Ghost to bond to someone other than their original Chosen, as with Shin Malphur, though that case required special circumstances.
