Description
The Bog Hag resides comfortably in swamps and wetlands, harvesting natural poisons and toxins for their own, twisted purposes. In their true form, the Bog Hag appears stout and frog-like with large webbed feet, slimy green skin, twisted horns, and long curved claws. They are known to create and utilize Banderhobbs as henchmen while all other manner of frog-like creatures show loyalty as well. Bog Hags are not known to be especially sinister toward large traveling parties as they prefer to pick off lost individuals or have their henchmen kidnap tasty morsels in the middle of the night. They are, however, extremely mischievous and deceptive and enjoy riddles and puzzles.
As with most hags, Bog Hags carry with them two specific items that they protect fiercely:
Heartstone. This lustrous black gem allows the Bog Hag to become ethereal while it is in their possession. The touch of a heartstone also cures any disease. Crafting a heartstone takes 30 days.
Soul Bag. When any humanoid dies as a result of Halo of Spores or Exploding Spore the Bog Hag catches their souls in this black sack made of stitched flesh. A soul bag can hold any number of souls which can be released by anyone. However, only The Bog Hag can catch souls with it. Crafting a soul bag takes 7 days and a humanoid sacrifice (whose flesh is used to make the bag).
Lair and Lair Actions
The lair of the Bog Hag is typically an area of shallow water or thick mud within a dense forested area. Mushrooms, mosses, and lillypads grow in abundance and grant advantages to the Bog Hag and their frog-like minions as they move unhindered through the area.
Lair Action(Initiative 20). 1d4+1 Banderhobbs, 2d4+2 Bullywugs and 1d4+1 giant toads appear from the swamp as allies to the Bog Hag.
Lair Action(Initiative 10). A cloud of spores engulfs the area obscuring vision and choking those unaccustomed to it. Creatures affected this way have disadvantage on attack rolls and skill checks that rely on sight. They also take 1d6+4 poison damage.
