Layered Armor. The onion knight's armor grants the effects of a mirror image with the following adjustments: creatures with enhanced/alternate sight cannot ignore the effects, and a layer only peels off when hit for at least 5 damage.
When all three layers have peeled off the onion knight is reduced to tiny size, and can no longer wield its Leek Sword.
It Burns! Each time the onion knight takes bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage, each non-plant creature within 5 feet must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of their next turn. A creature who has succeeded on this saving throw is immune to this effect for 24 hours.
Leek Sword (Small size only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage.
Sprout Dagger. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage.
Description
Onion knights stand watch around gardens just beneath the ground's surface, emerging when they detect approaching marauders or thieves. When they have lost their protective outer layers, they retreat into the ground and go dormant for 2d4 days before re-emerging fully restored.
