Flyby. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff doesn’t provoke an opportunity attack when it flies out of an enemy’s reach.
Keen Sight. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Empowered Attacks. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff’s attacks are treated as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to damage from nonmagical attacks.
Grounded Lightning. The first time on a turn that the Blue-Winged Hippogriff touches the ground, it takes 15 (3d10) force damage.
Lightning Aura. At the start of each of The Blue-Winged Hippogriff’s turns, each creature within 30 feet of it takes 35 (10d6) lightning damage. A creature also takes 35 (10d6) Lightning damage from touching The Blue-Winged Hippogriff or from hitting it with a melee attack while within 10 feet of it, and a creature takes that damage the first time on a turn that The Blue-Winged Hippogriff moves into its space.
Multiattack. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its claws.
Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (4d8 + 5) piercing damage.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (3d6 + 5) slashing damage.
Lightning Storm. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff magically creates three bolts of lightning, each of which can strike a target the Blue-Winged Hippogriff can see within 120 feet of it. A target must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 22 (4d10) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of the Blue-Winged Hippogriff's choice that is within 120 feet of the Blue-Winged Hippogriff and aware of it must succeed on a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the hippogriff's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
Ferocity. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff remains conscious and can continue fighting even if its hit point total is below 0. Blue-Winged Hippogriff is still staggered and loses 1 hit point each round. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff still dies when its hit point total reaches a negative amount equal to its Constitution score. (7)
[3/3] Legendary Resistance: Three times per day, when the Blue-Winged Hippogriff fails a Save of any type, it may choose to succeed instead.
The Blue-Winged Hippogriff can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Blue-Winged Hippogriff regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Lightning Storm (Costs 2 Actions). The Blue-Winged Hippogriff uses Lightning Storm.
Phoenix Ancestry. When the Blue-Winged Hippogriff dies, it explodes. Each creature within 30 feet of it must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 36 (8d8) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The explosion destroys the phoenix but leaves behind a Tiny, warm egg with a mizzium shell.
The egg contains the embryo of a new Blue-Winged Hippogriff. It hatches when it is in the area of a spell that deals lightning damage, or if a creature touches the egg and expends spell slots whose combined levels equal 24 or more. When it hatches, the egg releases a new Blue-Winged Hippogriff that appears in the egg’s space.
Description
