Avoidance. If the blur mantis is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.
Keen Smell. The blur mantis has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Pounce. If the blur mantis moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the blur mantis can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.
Blur. The blur mantis projects a magical illusion that makes it shift and blur, causing attack rolls against it to have disadvantage. If it is hit by an attack, this trait is disrupted until the end of its next turn. This trait is also disrupted while the blur mantis is incapacitated or has a speed of 0.
Multiattack. The blur mantis makes two attacks with its forelimbs and one with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6; to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 4); slashing damage.
Forelimb. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.
Description
Unlike its smaller relatives, the blur mantis actively hunts from the treetops, rather than waiting in ambush. Its ability to move silently through the branches means that the first sign of their presence is often their scything forelimbs darting down from the canopy.
