Description
For most kenku, the gift of flight has always been an impossible dream. Some, however, are not content with mere dreaming. Avian kenku strive for flight, offering service to otherworldly beings in exchange. These kenku are gifted with bird-like features, including talons, wings, and sharp eyesight. These gifts, however, are anything but free. Most avian kenku go to the mysterious Raven Queen for the gift of flight, though some turn to cunning devils or unknown otherworldly beings. These patrons require heavy prices in exchange for the gifts, and many avian kenku find themselves selling their freedom, or even their very souls, for their restless dreams of flight.
Many avian kenku travel in groups, preying on small groups of travelers. They often battle against their greatest rivals, the aarakocra. In combat, avian kenku rarely, if ever, find themselves on the ground, instead attacking from above. They are cowardly creatures, fleeing quickly when a battle turns against them.
