Traits
  • Zombies. When first encountered, a zombie flower contains the corpses of 1d4 + 1 Zombies (CR 1/8). A corpse flower can hold the remains of up to 5 dead humanoids. These remains have total cover against attacks and other effects outside the corpse flower. If the corpse flower dies, the corpses within it can be pulled free.

  • Spider Climb. The zombie flower can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

  • Harvest the Dead. The zombie flower grabs one unsecured dead humanoid within 10 feet of it and stuffs the zombie into itself, along with any equipment the corpse is wearing or carrying. The remains can be used with the Zombies trait.

Actions

Multiattack. The zombie flower makes two tentacle attacks.

Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to Hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4+2) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 2. Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained. The kraken has ten tentacles, each of which can grapple one target.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack:  +4 to Hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit 10 (2d6+2) piercing damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature grappled by the zombie flower, that creature is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the zombie, and it takes 1d6 acid damage at the start of each of the zombie's turns.

If the zombie flower takes 15 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the zombie must succeed on a DC Constitution saving throw that is half (rounded up) of the total damage at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of the zombie flower. If the zombie flower dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse using 15 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Description

A matured Zombie Flower is a large-sized carnivorous plant monster with twisting vines and an overpowering stench of rot and death. Twisted into its vines are several humanoid corpses that the flower can either digest or animate into zombies for self-defense.
