Traits

Antimagic Bark. The Bonsai-clops has advantage on saving throws against spells, and any creature making a spell attack against its reflective bark has disadvantage on the attack roll. If the Bonsai-clops succeeds on its saving throw against a spell or a spell attack misses it, an additional effect might occur, as determined by rolling a d6:

1–2. If the spell affects an area or has multiple targets, it fails and has no effect. If the spell targets only the Bonsai-clops, it has no effect on the Bonsai-clops and is reflected back at the caster, using the spell slot level, spell save DC, attack bonus, and spellcasting ability of the caster.

3–4. No additional effect.

5–6. The Bonsai-clops’ bark converts some of the spell’s energy into a burst of destructive force. Each creature within 30 feet of the snail must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 1d6 force damage per level of the spell on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Actions

Multiattack. The Bonsai-clops makes two slam attacks.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (3d10 + 7) bludgeoning damage.

Reactions

Spell Vitalization. Immediately after a creature casts a spell of 1st level or higher within 120 feet of the cyclops, the cyclops can move up to twice its speed without provoking opportunity attacks. It can then make one slam attack against a target of its choice.

Lair and Lair Actions

Archdruid Bryrona's nature preserve serves as a regional lair and provides beneficial effects to all plant creatures. On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Bonsai-clops takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects:

Toxic Spores. The nature preserve fills a 20-foot cube within the battlefield with toxic spores. Each non-plant creature in that area must succeed on a DC 11 Constitution saving throw or take 9 (2d6) poison damage and be poisoned until the end of its next turn.

Charming Visage. The Bonsai-clops casts charm person (no components required) on any number of creatures it can see within 60 feet of it. If a target succeeds on the saving throw or if the effect ends for it, the target is immune to the Bonsai-clops’ charm person lair action for the next 24 hours, although such a creature can choose to be affected.
