Any Creature who can breathe underwater or hold their breath (Air Genasi, Lizardfolk, Sea Elf, Tortle, Triton, Water Genasi, and Warforged), is not affected by this. You can make a STR save to return to the surface. However, by failing three times in a row you are dragged too close to Apati and take 3d8 bludgeoning damage and are flung out of the whirlpool. This brand gives Apati advantage when making any CHA based checks against the branded. It gives the branded Creature/Creatures disadvantage on ANY Insight checks. The last effect it has is any Creature branded cannot see Apati. (He can still be revealed by magic). The brand can only be dispelled by spells that neutralize curses.
Apati, God of Deception: Apati can change the Terrain and use many other illusory effects to gain the advantage against his enemies. During this Mythic action you can chose to cast 3 of these spells.
