Actions

Weapon of Reaping: Hit: +7. Range 40ft. 1 target. Damage: 2d6+10 cold. Azryeal summons a great scythe to rend soul from flesh to his side. When a target hit with the Weapon of Reaping fails on a DC 18 Constitution Saving Throw, they take an extra 4d4 necrotic damage and suffer the effect of Instant Decay. Unless a healing spell is cast on them they will take another 4d4 of cold damage every turn until they reach 0 HP. At that point, they instantly die and cannot be brought back through any means, save true resurrection or wish

Legendary Actions

Azryeal can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Azryeal regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Spells of the Gods (Costs 1 Action): Azryeal can cast a spell of 6th level or lower.

Frightening Gaze (Costs 2 Actions). Azryeal fixes its gaze on one creature it can see within 10 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or become frightened for 1 minute. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a target's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the target is immune to the lich's gaze for the next 24 hours.

Disrupt Life (Costs 3 Actions). Each non-undead creature within 20 feet of Azryeal must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 21 (6d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Mythic Actions

Azyreal can take 4 Mythic Actions/20 Rounds. Only one Mythic action can be used at a time and only at the end of each round. Azryeal regains 1 Mythic Action per 5 Rounds.

Call of the Dead (Costs 1 action per): Azryeal summons forth 2 Bone Colossi from the Grey Twilight he now commands.

Sundering Words (Costs 4 actions): Azryeal's voice tears at the schisms of reality and five rifts of Planar Energy open over the city raining down 2 comets with a range of 40ft each. One deals Necrotic damage and the other deals Cold damage but both will deal 8d6 Bludgeoning damage. All targets must succeed in a DC 17 DEX Saving Throw or take 10d12 Necrotic or Cold damage (damage does not overlap) and be knocked prone. On a success, targets will take half damage and not be knocked prone.

Description

Azryeal's Story: A somewhat brief summary :)

Race: half-elf
Age: 186
Occupations: Murder, espionage, the summoning of Elder Gods, and the usurpation of the Goddess of Death.
Azryeal Mournspire was born to Elinor and Fal’Dan Mournspire, a lesser noble house of Kalisto (a continent in my world) he was raised alongside Lady Sara Mal’Dayn, who was his closest and most trusted friend. For 22 years they lived there and Azryeal grew close to the daughter of the Silvermain’s (the ruling Governors of Castromina) Franchesca. They had a secret love for one another as she was promised to another Lord’s son, but they continued their love behind doors. Together they devised a plan to usurp the Governorship of Castromina and then the Phoenix Crown. But one day Azryeal and his parents moved to Kyrie (another continent in my world) where his father became Governor of Veilina by request of the Emerald King (the monarch of Kyrie). During Azryeal’s time there, he was schooled by Master Pycisus Andon who taught his maths, literature, history, and Arcanism. In his studies, Azryeal found himself mostly drawn to Arcanism, primarily to the darker side, where great power could be drawn. As the years went by, Azryeal became more and more studied in magic and eventually, by his master's own words, surpassed his master in ability and would be well suited to take over for his mother and father as Governor. Wasting no time, Azryeal called a meeting where he poisoned his mother, father, master, and two younger brothers. After the passing and taking of the title, Azryeal then ruled justify and wisely so as not to raise suspicion. He ruled there for 20 years with no family and brought wealth and prosperity to Vailina. It wasn’t until an envoy of the Temple of Ash and Bone, devoted monks of the Deathless Mother, the Goddess of Death and Balance, came to him, asking him to visit their temple that Azryeal found a new path to exploit. Once he visited the ancient temple, he decided to stay and became a monk of Julician, the Deathless Mother. Over the next 5 years, he rose in the ranks of the temple becoming an Archdeacon, and then usurped the title of Chancellor from another, murdering him in his sleep. After taking this position, he married another priestess and she gave him a son he named Leo Mournspire (a player character), and Azryeal killed his mother. Now, as a high servant to the Goddess, he wished to become her champion and opened tears into her domain, the Grey Twilight. But in doing so, opened pathways to a darker creature of unimaginable power and fear. The One of Many Faces, an Archdemon of the Flamelands (hell). It offered him the power he craved in exchange for his soul, instead, Azryeal offered the souls of six of the children in the temple, including his own son’s. And so the One of Many Faces granted these children with the power of Blood Magic and they became Azryeal’s Blood Hunters that he would send to kill his political advisories. Years went by and many enemies lay in the ground but that was not enough. So he searched the archives of that great temple for more power or ways to conjure it and found “The Blood of Dragons” a blood-soaked tome bound in scales of a hundred dragons. Inside he found a ritual that would call forth the “Great Mind who is the Great Unbehled”. And so he did. In his mind, the Deep One whispered temptations and struck a bargain for Azryeal to bring one of the Golden Eyes of God to it and the Deep One would grant him more power. So he did and he was betrayed by a servant of the Great Unbeheld. After this, he went into hiding until one day when he received word that his closest friend’s husband, now Sara Silverman of Castromina, had passed and she wished that he come to the ceremony. And so his plan with Franchesca went into motion. Together, Azryeal arrived with Franchesca and Cassian, her promised husband, and they slaughtered everyone at the funeral dinner for Sara’s husband, including Sara herself. Now with the Phoenix Crown open, Azryeal traveled with his conspirators to Traxia (the capital of Kalisto) where Azryeal killed the now orphaned children of the Phoenix King and Queen and took the throne. After using the remembered page from the mind of Alaster Silvermain, Azryeal sent his trusted servants Franchesca and Cassian to acquire the artifacts he beheld: the Timeless' Chalice and Blade of Paracausality located in the Deadlands of northern Kalisto, and while they were at it, burn and slaughter all they come across. When the Al'Thanes returned they brought the artifacts with them, but they were battered and bruised. They told him of a force growing in the north led by a winged lich, raising the dead as he razed cities to the ground, and that the lich was moving south. Azryeal cared not, and continued with his plan. He brought the Chalice and Blade to the throats of the nobles of the Ashen Thrones and when the young Xavier Overia, Prince of Kalisto, was brought to his knees before the false emperor, Azryeal cut his throat, collecting the blood within and tossing the 15-year-old boy's head aside. He then cut the throat of the boy's sister Alana and left them all to rot in the western sea of the continent. From there, Azryeal attempted to ascend as the Timeless Ones once did. But he failed when using the blood of the young prince and princess. Remembering the instructions, Azryeal came up with a new plan, to use the "Blood of the daughter" the Blood of Dragons spoke of, the blood of Lukia, his recently married daughter-in-law and wife of his son Leo. So Azryeal attacked the home of the Order of the Silver Hands of the Dream Weaver, Hometree. He singlehandedly nearly obliterated the entire city with his words of power and falling stars, successfully kidnapping Lukia from her and his son's wedding. Taking her back to the renamed capital of Kalisto, the Temple of the Rising God, Azryeal bled her nearly to death. But this experiment failed him as well. Her blood would not do for the Rite of Ascension. Therefore his last chance had to be taken: he would have to use his own son's blood to ascend to godhood. Azryeal used the screams of Leo's wife to lure him into a dark chamber where he teleported her in and out to force his son into a hasty decision to save her life. Azryeal sought to strike a bargain: Leo would fill a white and black chalice with his blood and in exchange, Lukia would be returned to him. However, neither of them could raise their wrath against him, unless they be unprotected from his forces and his own power. Without a second thought, Leo cut his hand with a coiled blade and filled the cup, nearly killing himself. Lukia was returned to him and Azryeal thanked his son for his help, disappearing into the shadows of the cave. Azryeal reappeared in the Ashen Throneroom and instantly used her blue flames to etch the Timeless runes of the Rite of Ascension into the foundations. The blood boiled within the Chalice for every rune drawn and the schisms of reality tore apart as the blood rose into the air, opening the tear and pulling Julician, Goddess of Balance and Death, the Deathless Mother herself, from the Grey Twilight into the material plane. With the Blade of Paracausality, Azryeal murdered the Goddess and devoured her power, becoming Azryeal the Forsaken: God of Death, God of Pain, God of Malice. But the Lost Souls, the group of adventures who had tracked him around the world in an attempt to stop him from completing his task, which included his own son Leo, were able to infiltrate the Temple of the Rising God and battled the newly-crowned god. As Azryeal was in his pure avatar form, he was vulnerable and he had no plane to retreat and be reborn into. And so Azryeal was beaten by the Lost Souls before he could conquer the world of Entravina and become the sole god of the world. Azryeal died, causing The Tearing with the exertion of such power within him as he was destroyed. Azryeal failed. He was still no more powerful than the mortals he hated.
