Talonblade. The Valravn Knight has the ability to give its opponents the Bleeding status effect using some of its attacks. While bleeding, a character must make a Constitution saving throw of 12 or highter, and the character takes 2 (1d4 / 2) damage every turn that they fail the save. Successfully making the save causes bleeding damage every turn to end.

Actions

Multiattack. The monster can make 2 attacks: One with its Clawed Gauntlets, and any other attack.

Clawed Gauntlets. Melee Weapon Attack: +1 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 4(1d6 + 1) Slashing damage.

Blade of the Wicked. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 12 (4d4 + 2) Slashing damage. The target of this attack must make a Constitution saving throw of 14 or higher,  or else they are inflicted with the Bleeding status effect (See Special Traits).

Whirlwind Sword. Area-of-Effect Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft. radius. Hit: 14 (4d4 + 3) Slashing damage. This attack can only be used if there are 2 or more creatures within 5 ft reach of the Valravn Knight. The target(s) of this attack must make a Constitution saving throw of 13 or higher,  or else they are inflicted with the Bleeding status effect (See Special Traits).

Thirst for Blood. The Valravn Knight can use its bonus action to regain 1d6 of HP from any target within 5 feet that is Bleeding. The target in question loses the same amount of HP that the Valravn Knight regains, but also cures the target of their Bleeding status.

Heart Eater. If any other enemy or NPC is near death (10 HP or lower), the Valravn Knight can feast upon their heart and regain 1d12 of HP. The amount of HP regained is doubled if the victim is a humanoid of Medium or smaller size. This cannot be used against player characters under any circumstances.

Reactions

Emergency Snack. After being hit with a melee attack that reduces the Valravn Knight's HP to half of its maximum HP or less, the Valravn Knight can use its reaction to move towards any Bleeding creatures on the field. If there are no creatures with the Bleeding status effect, the Valravn Knight can instead attempt to use its reaction to make an attack that causes Bleeding against its aggressor.

Description

Valravn Knights are feared throughout the world, especially for their tendency to consume the blood and hearts of their victims. They resemble large, armored, black knights with red-plumed helmets that. The area of the helmet around the mouth slides away via unknown means when the Valravn Knight feasts upon its prey (typically humanoids.)

Legends say that when a raven consumes the heart of a king that died in battle, it gains an incredible intellect and wisdom, as well as a dark, malevolent desire that aches like a never-ending hunger in its heart. This change in its nature is matched by an equally disturbing change in form, as its shape grows and twists until it has become the armored monstrosity known as the Valravn Knight.

Valravn Knights do not care for any creature other than themselves, though they do travel in small groups with other Valravn (referred to as a 'conspiracy' of Valravn.) Valravn Knights care little for the members of their conspiracies, and will happily consume the heart of one of their own without hesitation should they go too long without feeding. Conspiracies seem to be formed merely to gain the advantage against groups of prey that are armed for combat.
