Description

The Aduul-Thrak, more commonly known as shadow drakes, are powerful demons appearing in physique similarly to a wyvern. Though mostly covered in wispy shadow that hides its appearance, those few who can peer through the shadow say that shadow drakes have thick black oily leathery skin, with long featherless wings, like a wyverns, on either side of the chest. The long neck and lengthy tail help the shadow drake catching victims who try to stay beyond its reach.

The origin of Shadow drakes are a mystery. Some say they are the result of necromancer's dark magics on unfertilized dragon eggs, others the made love child of a wyvern and a shadow demon. regardless of their origin, these creatures are rare finds, existing solely in the empty wastes of the shadowfell, as well as in the dark skies of some layers in the Abyss.

Shadow drakes love to hunt but do not need to eat, instead surviving off of the energies of the night sky. However, it has been reported by researchers that Shadow drakes who go extended periods without hunting have fallen into incontrollable fits of rage, attacking anything in sight. This being said, shadow drakes have been discovered to posses abilities, fueled by the negative energies they absorb, that make them desirable mounts for the evil and the warmonger.

Though impossible to tame normally. a trained hand can bend the strong will of a shadow drake, if started from a hatchling. many a death night have proudly road into battle atop an armored shadow drake, raining down death and destruction from the skies above.
