Traits

Charge. If the goat moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a ram attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Sure-Footed. The goat has advantage on Strength and Dexterity saving throws made against effects that would knock it prone.

Actions

Ram. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage.

Teleport (Recharge 4–6). The goat magically teleports, along with any equipment it is wearing or carrying, up to 40 feet to an unoccupied space it can see. Before or after teleporting, the goat can make one ram attack. If attacking after the teleport, the attack has advantage. The distance traveled during the teleport does not count towards the movement requirement for its charge ability, but if the movement requirement was satisfied before the teleport, the subsequent ram attack (with advantage) does count.

Reactions

Blink away. If the Blink Goat would be hit by an attack, it can use its reaction to instead teleport away in a random cardinal direction as far as it can to an unoccupied space up to 40 feet away. The Blink Goat must have a Teleport charge available in order to do so, and teleporting in this way expends it.

Description

The Blink Goat is a mysterious and devilish creature that lives in small herds in mountainous areas. From a distance it appears as a regular black goat, but with wet fur and girthy horns. However, the wet fur look actually comes from the goat's smooth and shiny ebony skin, with swirly patterns visible in the skin when light reflects off of it. Their eyes have the characteristic rectangular black pupils of regular goats, but the rest of the eyeball is blood red. When teleporting, the goat appears to momentarily turn into a puff of black smoke, which travels near instantaneous towards its destination and leaves a thin trace of lingering smoke behind that has a light stench of sulfur. The smell does not persist for long, so noticing the smell in the wild is a sure sign that a herd is very nearby and actively hunting.

When not aggressive, the Blink Goat will mostly behave like a regular mountain goat, leaving unknowing passerby's unaware of the danger. However, unlike its non-magical counterpart, the Blink Goat is an omnivore, and it delights in drinking fresh blood most of all - a habit which gained it the nicknames Devil Goat and Vampire Goat. It uses its teleportation abilities and deadly horns to incapacitate small to medium prey without puncturing their skin, enabling it to gleefully suckle on every drip of blood it can before consuming the flesh. The goat does not often hunger for blood though, and will lazily graze grass and leaves most of the time. It will however still assault particularly succulent prey if its blood feeding time draws near, keeping watch over the corpse for two to three days.
