Combat Leap. After using a bonus action for a leap, a war cricket may use its action to perform a leaping kick attack.
Soft Fall. A cricket may fall up three times its movement speed in feet before taking any fall damage. Fall damage distance is reduced by an amount equal to three times it's movement speed.
Limited Flight. A cricket may fly for up to one minute per day with a flying speed of 50. Once used, the cricket may attempt subsequent flights, but must roll a DC 10 Constitution saving throw with each subsequent flight or fall, causing 3d6 damage to the cricket and rider, plus any fall damage not mitigated by it's soft fall ability (DC 20 riding skill check to reduce damage by half). The DC increased by 5 for each attempt after the second (so, one free leap, then DC 10, 15, 20, 25, etc.).
Multi-attack. The war cricket may make one attach against up to two separate enemies within five feet.
Kick Attack. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 9 (1d8 + 5) slashing damage. A creature struck by the cricket's kick attack is pushed back 5 feet and must make a strength saving throw DC 13 or become prone.
Leaping Kick. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 10) slashing damage. Additionally, any creature within 5 feet of the war cricket must make a DC 17 strength saving throw or take 1d6 bludgeoning damage, be pushed back 5 feet, and be knocked prone.
Leap. As a bonus action, The cricket leaps up to triple it's walking speed in any direction to any unobstructed location it can see. If a cricket leaps down, any fall damage calculation is reduced by the same amount.
Reactive Kick. When struck by a melee weapon, a war cricket may use a reaction to make a single kick attack or push action.
Description
War crickets are a breed of giant cricket bred and trained over generations into highly mobile fighting mounts. Larger than common riding crickets and stronger, they are able to ferry heavily armored knights across the battlefield and knock foes to the ground with their long-distance leap attacks.
Giant Crickets can be trained to be ridden. A faster but less comfortable means of transportation, it takes special training and an exotic saddle to be able to use a riding cricket effectively. Still, a character trained to ride can cover distances at a faster pace than most other beasts.
