Amorphous. The ooze can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.
Resurrector. Any dead creature the ooze travels through or drips on is revived next round as a zombie. Any creature killed by the ooze is resurrected next round as a zombie. Use regular zombie stats with size dependent on the size of the creature that died.
Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage plus 14 (4d6) acid damage. A creature which dies from this damage is resurrected in one round as a zombie.
Spray of Blood (Recharge 6). The ooze expels a spray of its gelatinous mass in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 22 (4d10)acid damage and is pulled up to 30 feet straight toward the ooze. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and isn’t pulled. Dead creatures hit by the spray of blood are resurrected as zombies.
Description
The gem in the pool placed there by the Abbot purifies the water - but why was the water unclean to start with? Decades of the Abbot experimenting and pushing life into flesh golems has resulted in the blood running down the hospital drains and forming something new. Something alive.
Lair and Lair Actions
Forming An Army. The ooze sends a tentacle of blood to wrap around a dead creature or swarm of creatures within ten feet. Skeletons and undead creatures which have already been killed fall under this definition - undead which are still "alive" do not. The creature is resurrected within one round as a zombie or swarm of small zombies. For single creatures use regular zombie stats, for swarms of creatures use the regular swarm stats but add immunity to necrotic damage and vulnerability to radiant damage.
Shooting Blood. The ooze shoots a clot of blood at a dead creature within 50 feet. On a hit the creature is resurrected as a zombie. Ranged Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. On a creature without existing AC a hit of 12 or higher should be considered to have succeeded.
Lair Description
The blood ooze has sat beneath the Abbey for decades, slowly growing bigger and infecting everything within its reach. As such its lair is likely to be filled with the undead created from regular vermin. Possibilities include Swarms of Undead Snakes, Swarms of Undead Rats (use the Diseased Rats stats) and an Undead Shambling Mound. There are also likely to be problems with rotgrubs and quippers due to the amount of flesh that gets swept in the water.
The gem purifies the water in the pool making it safe to drink. However if the gem is removed the people of Kresk will gradually become ill, with the main symptom being a terrible fatigue, before dying and resurrecting as zombies.
