Traits

Magic Resistance. Alystin Ssambra has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Amphibious. Alystin Ssambra can breathe air and water.

Mirrored Respiration: Alystin Ssambra needs to breathe, but unlike most creatures, it inhales carbon dioxide and exhales oxygen, enough to supply one Medium-sized humanoid with breathable air in an enclosed environment.

Land's Stride. Moving through nonmagical difficult terrain costs Alystin Ssambra no extra movement. She can also pass through nonmagical plants without being slowed by them and without taking damage from them if they have thorns, spines, or a similar hazard.

In addition, she has advantage on saving throws against plants that are magically created or manipulated to impede movement, such those created by the entangle spell

Spellcasting. Alystin Ssambra is an 18th-level spellcaster. Her spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 17, +9 to hit with spell attacks). Alystin Ssambra has the following druid spells prepared:

Actions

Multiattack. Alystin Ssambra makes as many attacks as she has vines plus one herself.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10ft., 1 target. Hit:  15 (2d8 + 6) slashing damage.

Entangle: On a hit the vines attempt to tangle around the target. The target must make a DC 17 STR save or become grappled and restrained. You can repeat this save at the end of your turn.

Constrict: A creature that is Entangled will be constricted. A constricted creature takes 2d6 bludgeoning damage at the beginning of Alystin Ssambra's turn until the creature falls unconscious, after which the creature will be released. As an action a restrained creature can make a DC 17 Strength saving throw to end this effect on it.

Trip: As the vines tighten around the legs of the target, the target must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.

Poison Spray. Alystin Ssambra targets one 15ft cube within 5ft of a vine. All creatures in the area must succeed a DC 17 Constitution saving throw against this magic or become poisoned until the end of the Alystin Ssambra's next turn. If the target fails the saving throw by 5 or more, it is also paralyzed for the same duration. A target that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to the Poison Spray for the next 24hrs.

Legendary Actions

Alystin Ssambra can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Alystin Ssambra regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Attack. Alystin Ssambra makes one attack with a vine or uses her Poison Spray.

Cantrip. Alystin Ssambra casts a cantrip.

Gust. Alystin Ssambra utters a command word. Controls the direction and force of the wind in a 100-ft cube.

Channel Negative Energy (Costs 2 Actions). Alystin Ssambra magically unleashes negative energy. Creatures within 60 feet of her, including ones behind barriers and around corners, can't regain hit points until the end of her next turn.

Whirlwind (Costs 2 Actions). Alystin Ssambra magically transforms into a whirlwind, moves up to 60 feet, and reverts to her normal form. While in whirlwind form, she is immune to all damage, and it can't be grappled, petrified, knocked prone, restrained, or stunned. Equipment worn or carried by Alystin Ssambra remain in her possession.

Lair and Lair Actions

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Alystin Ssambra takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; she can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row.

  • Each undead creature in the lair can pinpoint the location of each living creature within 120 feet of it until initiative count 20 on the next round.
  • Each undead in the lair has advantage on saving throws against effects that turn undead until initiative count 20 on the next round.
  • Until initiative count 20 on the next round, any non-undead creature that tries to cast a spell of 4th level or lower in the mummy lord’s lair is wracked with pain. The creature can choose another action, but if it tries to cast the spell, it must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it takes (1d6) necrotic damage per level of the spell, and the spell has no effect and is wasted.

Regional Effects

Alystin’s tower is warped in any of the following ways by the creature’s dark presence:

  • Food instantly molders and water instantly evaporates when brought into the lair. Other nonmagical drinks are spoiled — wine turning to vinegar, for instance.
  • Divination spells cast within the lair by creatures other than Alystin have a 25 percent chance to provide misleading results, as determined by the DM. If a divination spell already has a chance to fail or become unreliable when cast multiple times, that chance increases by 25 percent.

If the Alystin Ssambra is destroyed, these regional effects end immediately.
