Spellcasting. The mage is a 5th-level spellcaster that uses Intelligence as its spellcasting ability (spell save DC 14; +5 to hit with spell attacks). The mage knows the following spells from the wizard’s spell list:
Cantrips (at will): sword burst, mage hand, shocking grasp
1st Level (4 slots): charm person, witch bolt Shield
2nd Level (3 slots): hold person, misty step
3rd Level (2 slots): fear
Dagger. Melee Weapon Attack: +1 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) Slashing damage.
Blood Magic. When this mage is tired and out of spell slots, desperate times call for desperate messures, the mage activates blood magic which takes a action to activate and a free action to deactivate, while active they can cast any one of their spells regardless of spell slots, instead there is a new cost blood, if the mage deals 8 damage on their turn to anyone, including themself, they can cast one level 1 spell, to cast level 2 spells its 16 damage; once they do this damage they get the equivalent spell slot until used.
Combat Blood Magic. you can cast any of your spells as a bonus action (or a free action if the spell already says bonus) if you have dealt damage this turn.
Demonic Possession. as blood mages are more susceptible to demons this means that even in death a demon might try to possess this body when the blood mage dies roll a d20 on a 14 or higher a demon possesses this corpse the body is set to 1 hp and 32 temp hp is added the demon always has blood magic active
Description
Blood mages hunger for power
the blood magic mechanic along with combat magic can be added to any mage's stat block to make them a blood mage while this one is week, most blood mages are new because the longer you deal with magic like this the more likely you are to go insane
that being said powerful and old blood mages can slow down their aging to learn even more a old blood mage is one of the most terrifying Wizards you can possibly come across, as they would have additional mechanics such as mind control, save or die a very fast but painful death, blood boil, summoning demons and even raising the dead.
