Denizen of the Expanse. The black hole tardigrade does not need to breathe.
Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the black hole tardigrade has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Water Sense. The black hole tardigrade knows when a source of water of 5 gallons or more is within 100 feet of it. It can magically pinpoint the location of the water.
Spellcasting. The [monster name] is a #-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is [ability score] (spell save DC #, +# to hit with spell attacks). The [monster name] has following [class name] spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): [spell name], [spell name]
1st level (# slots): [spell name], [spell name]
Multiattack. The black hole tardigrade makes three Claw attacks.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 12 (3d6 + 2) slashing damage.
Conjure Black Hole. The black hole tardigrade summons a 5-foot-diameter sphere black hole in a space it can see within 120 feet of it. The black hole persists until the black hole tardigrade uses this action again, is slain, unconscious or is on another plane of existence. When a creature enters the black hole's area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 38 (7d10) force damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. A target reduced to 0 hit points by the black hole is sucked into it. A sucked-in target and everything it is wearing and carrying, except artifacts, are destroyed. The creature can be restored to life only by means of a true resurrection or a wish spell or other magic. An artifact is undamaged by the black hole. Each target that starts its turn within 10 feet of the black hole and is not anchored to another object must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pulled into the area of the black hole.
Action Ranged Attack. RangedWeapon Attack: +# to hit, range #/# ft., # target. Hit: # (#d# + #) [damage type] damage.
Cryptobiosis Stasis. The black hole tardigrade enters a state of stasis. While in this stasis, the black hole tardigrade does not require food, drink or sleep and is unconscious. It does not age. It gains immunity to all damage. While in this state, the tardigrade can take no action unless there is a water source within 10 feet of it. If there is a water source within 10 feet of the black hole tardigrade, it regains consciousness and ends its cryptobiosis stasis as a bonus action.
Description
Drifting in the Hollow Expanse, reported to be one of the first and most ancient creatures to live in the inhospitable environment is the black hole tardigrade. These creatures have developed the ability to affect light and gravity in such a way that they create miniature black holes which can easily tear through vessels or wreak havoc on predators.
Livestock. Some black hole tardigrades are raised as work animals, pets or even guard dogs by the various races living throughout the Hallow Expanse on protected islands or cities floating through the infinite void. The tardigrades are known for being able to locate water, something highly valued among those traveling the empty spaces, and make excellent deterrents against attack, as well as friendly pets and beasts of burden for carting around supplies or passengers.
Nigh Indestructible. Black hole tardigrades are some of the most resilient creatures around, immune to almost every form of damage imaginable. Magical weapons and particular spells are thought to be the only means of dispatching these creatures which are immune to most forms of elemental damage. Because of their resilience, black hole tardigrades also make incredible pets for some of the more dangerous creatures of the planes. A dragon might roast a dog or a cat with its fire breath in a fit of rage, but a black hole tardigrade withstands the heat and lives to fight (or snuggle) another day.
Peaceful. Black hole tardigrades are gentle giants, drifting through the Hollow Expanse in search of stray, often microscopic vegetation growing on rocks that float through the Hallow Expanse, pools of water and other forms of sustenance. The creatures are thought to be incredibly resilient, can survive extreme heat and cold and are immune to most forms of damage. Their ability to go into a form of stasis as they hunt for water has enabled tardigrades to populate some of the farthest known reaches of the Hollow Expanse.
