Shapechanger. The awakened mimic can use its action to polymorph into an object, a humanoid or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It is still unable to move whilst in humanoid form. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Adhesive (Object/Humanoid Form Only). The awakened mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 15). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
False Appearance (Object/Humanoid Form Only). While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary object or humanoid.
Mimicry (Humanoid Form Only). While the awakened mimic remains in humanoid form, it is capable of mimicking short phrases.
Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
Multiattack. The awakened mimic makes three melee attacks: two with its pseudopod and one with its bite.
Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If the awakened mimic is in object or humanoid form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) acid damage.
Description
This intriguing specimen, after many years of hunting adventurers, has learnt how best to capture it's prey. The awakened mimic will usually take the form of a commoner in trouble or pain to lure its prey closer before devouring them. It has also learnt how to mimic the voices of its prey and will use this to divide and confuse any adventurers or to lull them into a false sense of security.
