Description
The ahuizotl is the general size and shape of a very large dog. It has small pointed ears and waterproof fur that naturally clumps into spikes along its back. It's paws are articulate lime a primate's, and it has a long tail that ends in an additional hand.
The ahuizotl lives in underwater dens and caverns, and hides near the shallows or among the plant life of rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, and swamps. It lures its prey in by causing disturbances near the surface of the water or by mimicking the cries of a drowning child. When its prey gets close to investigate, it will ambush them from below and drag them into the depths with its tail-hand. The ahuizotl will remove their nails, eyes, and teeth, and sometimes let the body float back up to the surface to attract more prey.
