Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the leviathan fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Vulnerable to Elements. If the leviathan takes more than 50 points of any single type of elemental damage in a single round it attempts to move either that specific tentacle or re-orientate its entire body away from the source at the beginning of its movement on its turn

Siege Monster. The leviathan deals double damage to objects, vessels and structures.

Astral Nature. The leviathan becomes one with the background of space and the abysal sea by remaining motionless for any longer than ten minutes allowing it to ambush vessels or creatures that pass within reach of its tentacles.

Actions

Multiattack. The leviathan makes two smash attacks.

Smash. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (2d12+ 8) bludgeoning damage plus 13 (2d12) necrotic damage.

Tentacle Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d10 + 8) bludgeoning damage plus 10 (3d6) necrotic damage.

Feed.  Melee Spell Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., any creature. Hit: 10 (3d6) necrotic damage. Any creature that succeeds on a DC15 CON saving throw takes half damage. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0. The total amount of hit points reduced is added to the astral leviathan as temporary hitpoint. It must exhaust the current pool of temporary hit points before it can use the Feed action again

Legendary Actions

The leviathan can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The leviathan regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Move. The leviathan moves up to its speed.

Tentacle Slam (Costs 2 Actions). The leviathan makes one Tentacle Slam attack.

Engulf (Costs 2 Actions). The leviathan attempts to wrap itself around a Vessel, Construct or Object, allowing it to end its movement in the same space and gain advantage on any attacks on the engulfed target and impose disadvantage on any attacks caused by the target against any target other than the leviathan

Feed (Costs 3 Actions).  The leviathan attemps to draw in the living nature of those around it making a Feed attempt

Description

An astral leviathan is an immense creature found exclusively in the abysal sea and astral spaceways that acts as a force of nature, devouring ships and materials floating loose in the voids of space. When called forth, a leviathan appears from blackness of the abyss or astral space resembling an octopus, a swirling gargantuan mass of tentacles with a gaping maw at the centre that resembles a black hole surrounded by small glowing teeth. Its natural ability to survive in the nothingness of space and the abyssal sea extends to its attacks which draw the very lifeforce from those it contacts

When at rest the leviathan is indistinguishable from the void around it but once it becomes active it outline is clearly visable until it remains motionless in its new location.

An ambush hunter at best these creatures are ofter content to float the laneways of space and prey on those that come to close or attempt to investigate the strange astral phenomena that its maw appears to be when viewed at a distance
