Innate Spellcasting. The azaex's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 15, +7 to hit with spell attacks). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no components:
At will: mage hand, magic missile (cast at 1st level), mind sliver (cast as a 5th level caster)
3/day each: dispel magic, shield (see "reactions")
Magic Resistance. The azaex has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Telepathic Shroud. The azaex is immune to any effect that would sense its emotions or read its thoughts, as well as all divination spells.
Unusual Nature. Azaex don't need to eat or breathe, instead they absorb background radiation and excess mental energy from other living creatures.
Multiattack. The azaex makes two tentacle attacks.
Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage, plus 4 (2d4) acid damage. At the end of each of its turns, the target must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, taking 4 (2d4) acid damage on a failure or ending the recurring acid damage on a success. A lesser restoration spell cast on the target also ends the recurring acid damage.
Psychic Shriek (Recharge 5-6). The azaex releases a psychically disturbing shriek in a 30-foot cone. Creatures in that area must succeed on a DC 15 Intelligence saving throw, taking 14 (4d6) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. Additionally, creatures that fail their save by 5 or more are stunned for 1 round.
Shield. As a reaction to being targeted by an attack it can see, the azaex can cast the shield spell, granting it a +5 bonus to its AC, and granting it immunity to the magic missile spell for 1 round.
