Traits

Flyby (Owl Form Only). The visok owl doesn't provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy's reach.

Keen Hearing and Sight. The visok owl has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or sight.

Foliage Camouflage (True Form Only). The visok owl has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made while near or behind foliage.

Shapechanger. The visok owl can use its action to polymorph into a normal owl, or back into its true form. Its statistics are the same in each form, except that its flying speed is changed to 60 ft. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It doesn't change form if it dies.

Actions

Multiattack. The visok owl takes three actions in one turn, one with its longsword, and two with its talons in any order, or it can do one longsword attack and then a shapechange.

Longsword (True Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 30 (2d20 +10) slashing damage.

Talon. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (4d6) piercing damage, or the visok owl can grab the enemy with its talon, forcing it to do a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the enemy takes 5 (2d6 -1) bludgeoning damage and is now grappled.

Description

Far into the forest, where trees block out the sun lives a race of owl like fey creatures called the visok owl. These creatures stand around 9 - 12 feet tall and look like bipedal owls.

Wanderers of the Forest

Visok owls don't live in one spot their whole lives, they are constantly moving and resettling throughout the forest. The reason they do this is unknown, but it is suspected that they are looking for a lost artifact of their gods. Once a visok owl community finds an area to settle, they begin construction on large treetop buildings with no break until their finished. Only a few travelers have ever seen this houses because the visok owls are very territorial, even in spots that they used to live in fear that someone else might take it.

Rebirth

After a visok owl dies, its body is brought to a special ritual building where it is then revived. It is said that this ritual is close to the ritual done by wizards who want to become a lich, but it is uncertain. If a visok owl's body isn't found in 10 days, it becomes a group of trees, extending the forest even more.
