Traits

Plane-Binding Tether. As long as Vorugaal is alive, as well as the creature he is tethered to, he cannot be sent to a different plane. If he is killed, he is sent back to the Cursed Item he posseses. If his tether is killed, his planar binds no longer have an effect, and he is sent back to the Abyss along with the killed tethers soul.

Magic Resistance. Vorugaal has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Vengeful Reflection. If Vorugaal succeeds on a saving throw against a spell with a Natural 20, the spell is instead reflected back on the caster.

Incorporeal Movement. The demon can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Fire Form. Vorugaal can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. A creature that touches Vorugaal or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 5 (1d10) fire damage. In addition, Vorugaal can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there. The first time it enters a creature's space on a turn, that creature takes 5 (1d10) fire damage and catches fire; until someone takes an action to douse the fire, the creature takes 5 (1d10) fire damage at the start of each of its turns.

Soul Devour. For each soul devoured by Vorugaal, he gets an additional (2d4) to damage rolls.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Vorugaal fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Actions

Multiattack. Orthax can make three claw attacks, and substitute one for his Rampage Pulse if available.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 15 (3d6 + 5) psychic damage or, if the demon has advantage on the attack roll, 26 (6d6 + 5) psychic damage. (Plus additional 3d4 for each soul absorbed)

Rampage Pulse (Recharge 5-6). Orthax unleashes an ear shattering shriek, audible out to 300 feet. Each non-demon creature within 30 feet of Orthax must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 21 (6d6) psychic damage and must use its reaction to move and make a weapon attack against a creature of Vorugaal’s choice. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and no additional effects.

Bonus Actions

TeleportVorugaal can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space.

Reactions

Vengeful Brand (3/day). As a bonus action, Orthax can mark a creature he can see within 30 feet with a magical curse. The curse last for 8 hours and Orthax always knows the distance and direction of the creature and has advantage on attack rolls against the cursed creature. The cursed creatures speed is reduced by half while affected by the Vengeful Brand. As a bonus action on subsequent turns, Orthax can move the curse to a new creature within range.

Legendary Actions

(2) Soul-Stealing Gaze. Vorugaal targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. If the target isn’t a Construct or an Undead, it must succeed on a DC 18 Charisma saving throw or take (3d12) psychic damage. The target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage dealt, and Vorugaal regains hit points equal to half that amount. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a short or long rest. The target dies if its hit point maximum is reduced to 0.

(1)TeleportVorugaal can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space.

(1) Fire Breath. Vorugaal exhales fire in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 24 (7d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
