Description

Manganese Dragons are the Bard Equivalent of the Metallic dragon community, loving interacting with mortal races, and getting to know them on an intimate level. Manganese Dragons are prone to developing Harems of mortals that have either managed to successfully seduce their Draconic lover, or the reverse.

The Metallic Lover

Manganese Dragons often get confused with other silvery colored dragons when seen in the sky, but have defining features that set them apart when looked at in full. While Silver Dragons are covered in hi reaching fins and spines, Manganese dragons are softer, with large wings adorned in silvery plated scales, and a soft powder. The scales of Manganese dragons switch between solid plates and an almost fur-like appearance akin to wool. Scholars have noticed the similarity between these dragons and certain species of moths. Even their horns remind people of the fuzzy antennae of certain moths.

Responsible Harem Owner

Manganese Dragons will never force their lovers to remain with them, but do desire to be in contact with every member of their harem, and grow to love each of them equally. Individuals who have caught the eye of a Manganese Dragon can expect to be showered with lavish gifts and praise, alongside genuine worry and adoration, but Manganese Dragons are not Monogamous, instead collecting a harem of lovers of every race and gender that they guard jealously. They pride themselves on their 'notches under the belt' and being the most promiscuous of their metallic cousins.

It Takes Two..Three...Four...Etc...

Manganese Dragons don't just shower their lovers with endless gifts, they do expect reciprocation, and can very quickly become hurt if their love isn't appreciated or returned. They do acknowledge that their mortal lovers cannot perform the same acts of love as themselves, but sending a memento, writing a heartfelt poem, or even choosing to spend the night in their home, can mean more than the wealth they amass.

But do not believe that sending a small trinket or a generic poem can sate their need for reciprocation, as doing so can quickly lead to their wrath, and what's worse than a Jilted Ex-lover? A Jilted Ex-lover who is immortal, never forgets what you did to them, and can easily lift an entire house and throw it at you.

Lair and Lair Actions

A Manganese Dragon’s Lair

Manganese dragons dwell in manually made lairs that can either be caverns decorated in wealth and mortal architecture, or an actual palace designed to house them.

Manganese dragons use mortals as fodder to defend their lairs, providing food, lodging, pay, etc, like how a lord would handle their underlings.

The insides of a Manganese Dragon's home can be filled with impressive stores of wealth, knowledge, and lovers, having a room dedicated to the living of each of their many Harem Members

The challenge rating of a legendary Manganese dragon increases by 1 when it’s encountered in its lair.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the dragon can take one of the following lair actions; the dragon can’t take the same lair action two rounds in a row:

Beguiling Whisper. The dragon telepathically whispers to one creature within range of the dragon’s sight. The creature must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by the dragon until initiative count 20 on the next round. A creature charmed in this way obeys to the best of its ability any command the dragon issues that isn’t directly harmful to the creature.

Vanish. The dragon becomes invisible until initiative count 20 on the next round.

Regional Effects

The region surrounding a legendary Manganese dragon’s lair is altered by the dragon’s magic, creating one or more of the following effects:

Bountiful Fruits. the landscape within 6 miles of the lair grows massive, fruit bearing trees.

Beautiful Sights. The sky within 6 miles of the lair becomes a soft pink at all times of the day, and never accrues any storms. The temperature will always be peaceful, neither too hot, nor too cold.

Garden of Sights. Trees and rocks within 6 miles of the dragon’s lair sometimes move of their own accord, usually when no one is watching. Often the items shape themselves into interesting patterns that are pleasing to the eye

Thriving Wildlife. Herbivorous Beasts of all sizes are attracted to the area within 6 miles of the lair and settle there in large numbers.

If the dragon dies, the population of animals near the lair returns to normal levels over the course of 1d10 days. plants and rocks immediately stop moving of their own accord. The existing abundance of plant life and fruit remains, but new ones form at a normal rate.
