Description

These insectile wyverns are a constant threat to the people of Athtas. Their chitin is hard enough to deflect all but the sharpest blades and their powerful wings allow them to avoid a hunter’s blades. Ahtal-kai resemble wyverns but their six eyes set them apart. Their success as an apex predator is down to their uncanny ability to look in three places at once and their potent paralytic venom. Their adaptation to hot climates makes them exceedingly vulnerable to unnatural cold sources. Most Ahtal-kai are red, brown or occasionally black. There are minor differences between the sub-species, usually the average size of a fully grown adult. Despite their large size, they can move almost silently when they're in flight and the best way to track one is by the pungent smell of their tail venom that lingers on their prey's bodies for days after the fact.
