Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Hydrophobia. If the dragon is within 30ft of a Large source of water, it must succeed a DC 21 wisdom save or be frightened for one minute.

Hydro-Reactive. If the dragon is doused in a 10ft cube of water, it immediately reduced to half its maximum hit points and takes 36(4d10+12) radiant damage.

Metamorphosis. If the dragon is attacked by any type of poison damage, they have a 1 in 100 chance to metamorphose into an Adult Salt Dragon.

Actions

Multiattack. The dragon makes three attacks: one with its bite or tail and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d10 + 8) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) fire damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d6 + 8) slashing damage.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 8) bludgeoning damage.

Searing Breath (Recharge 5–6). The dragon exhales a white fire in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw, taking 63 (18d6) irresistible fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Legendary Actions

The dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Detect. The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.

Tail Attack. The dragon makes a tail attack.

Wing Attack (Costs 2 Actions). The dragon beats its wings. Each creature within 10 feet of the dragon must succeed on a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or take 15 (2d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.

Description

Sodium Dragons lead a cursed life. Their metallic bodies require absolutely no moisture, as contact with water could lead to instant death as their forms dissolve and decompose in a burst of radiant fire. They've learned to live with this horrible truth, taking refuge in dry, hot areas to stave off any source of water. They're discernable from other silvery Dragons due to the lack of frills and horns, leading to a very streamlined body plan. That and their wings are four times the size of normal Silver dragons. Sodium Dragons are often called Skyrays due to the Ray-like appearance their shadow gives off when their wings are fully outstretched.

Sodium Dragons are the only of their metallic cousins that undergo a metamorphosis when exposed to Poisonous gas.

Lair and Lair Actions

A Sodium Dragon’s Lair

Sodium Dragons make their layers in sweltering deserts or blisteringly hot mountains. Their homes demand absolutely no rainfall what so ever.

Regional Effects

The region containing a legendary sodium dragon’s lair is warped by the dragon’s magic, which creates one or more of the following effects:

Unquenchable Heat: The Sun seemingly never sets in the area of a Sodium Dragon, Time seems to slow to a crawl in the day, leading to horrible waves of heat, while cool nights seem to last mere hours before the unforgiving sun returns.

Devoid of Life: Due to the severe lack of water, No plants or animals live in the area, giving off a seemingly endless and dead landscape for mile.

If the dragon dies, these effects fade over the course of 1d10 days. The time cycle reverts to normal, but it can take years for the area to recover, even if a water source is brought into the vicinity.
