Description
Built, conjured, or simply created, battle sentries are excellent automatons to use both in the offense and defense. Able to swing blades of copper and fire arcane energy at foes near and far. However, they almost always come at a cost of resources and labor unless made by powerful arcane hands.
Clockwork Soldiers. Battle Sentries are made almost exclusively for combat, with other clockwork constructs of similar family taking up different, more niche roles. Through their more generalized nature, Battle sentries can serve many different roles among those who know to build such constructs. From scouts and infiltrators, to brute guardians, to standing infantry. Their climbing speed also allows them to take positions that otherwise wouldn't be attainable by less mechanical foes.
Simple Minds. Battle Sentries and their relatives are powered by an arcane crystal in the center of their form, giving them life and the capacity to understand. If so willed, their creator can control a Battle Sentry directly through remote means and use it as an avatar of sorts. But all that is needed to command them is a written out set of commands which the crystal inside translates to the "consciousness" of a Battle Sentry. It shall fill out those commands until they are accomplished or until a new one is declared that overrides the previous command.
Reactive. Because of their power source, Battle Sentries can be... erratic. A strike from afar that doesn't instantly down it will cause an almost immediate reaction from the Battle Sentry. But should it be downed, there is a chance that the crystal within shall overload with arcane energy, compressing and forming together for a violent burst. Some users of these constructs consider it a flaw, while others of more villainous blood see it as "assurance" that their "task" is complete.
Constructed Nature. The sentry does not require air, food, drink, or sleep.
