Multiattack. The afanc makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its tail.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (3d10 + 6) piercing damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the afanc can’t bite another target.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target not grappled by the afanc. Hit: 15 (3d6 + 6) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Electric Discharge (Recharge 5–6). While immersed in water, the afanc discharges an electric pulse that has a 20 foot radius centered on itself. Each creature within that radius must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 66 (12d10) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Swallow. The afanc makes one bite attack against a Medium or smaller target it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target is also swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the afanc, and it takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of the afanc's turns. A afanc can have only one creature swallowed at a time.
If the afanc takes 30 damage or more on a single turn from the swallowed creature, the afanc must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 feet of the afanc. If the afanc dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 15 feet of movement, exiting prone.
Description
What can only be described as a hybrid between a beaver and a crocodile, the afanc dwells in cool to temperate lakes and marshlands. It feeds on hapless fishermen and cattle who wander too close to its lair. The death and misery caused by these creatures make their lairs popular locations for Will-o'-Wisps.
