Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Supernatural Majesty. The dragon has advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. The dragon also counts as a celestial, and doesn’t require sleep, food, drink, or air.

Electric Charge. Whenever the dragon takes lightning damage, it instead takes no damage and it immediately recharges its Thunderhead Breath. Additionally, if a creature touches the dragon or attacks it with a metal weapon before the end of the dragon’s next turn, that creature takes 11 (2d10) lightning damage.

Actions

Multiattack. The dragon can use its Supernatural Presence. It then makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (3d10 + 7) piercing damage plus 5 (1d10) lightning damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 7) slashing damage.

Supernatural Presence. Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 19 Wisdom saving throw or become charmed for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon's Supernatural Presence for the next 24 hours.

Thunderhead Breath (Recharge 5–6). The dragon exhales rolling thunderclouds in a 60-foot cone which persist until the start of the dragon’s next turn. The area is heavily obscured. Each creature that starts its turn in that cone or enters it for the first time in a turn must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 55 (10d10) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Legendary Actions

The dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Purify. The dragon ends one continuous effect, such as a condition or spell, that is afflicting it or a creature it touches.

Thunderous Snap. The dragon snaps its tail, creating an effect identical to an 11th-level thunderclap (DC 23).

Winding Strike (Costs 2 Actions). The dragon spirals with a burst of speed. Each creature within 10 feet of the dragon must succeed on a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or take 14 (2d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.

Description

Thunder dragons are extremely rare creatures that live at the very edges of the Material Plane. Their beauty and majesty is beyond that of any true dragon, with shimmering yellow-green scales and patterns upon their scales and horns that resemble masterful mosaics. Thunder dragons have very long bodies and short clawed legs. They also fly in beautiful winding patterns, their supernatural wingless flight flowing like clouds upon the wind. When confronted, often by presumptuous hunters or aggressive monsters, thunder dragons unleash clouds of roiling storms and whirlwind attacks of both claws and fangs with all the fury of a storm.

It is said that thunder dragons have the ability to purify others of any affliction, like poison or disease, and are willing to cure any creature they perceive as good-hearted. For this purpose, those afflicted with an incurable sickness who are versed in folktales of thunder dragons often embark on journeys to find one and be healed.
